Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is available for PS4 and PS5; its PlayStation Store release date was October 30, 2025, not 2026. The collection brings together selected early arcade, console and handheld games, plus documentary material, tools for practicing finishing moves and—in an April 2026 update—cross-platform online play and other features.
Is Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection on PS5 and PS4?
Yes. The US PlayStation Store lists the game for both PS4 and PS5 and gives October 30, 2025 as its release date. The listing names Atari as publisher; Digital Eclipse developed the collection. The “in 2026” wording in the original headline does not match that release date. Check the PlayStation Store listing for current regional pricing and availability.

Which Mortal Kombat games are included?
It is a selection of early games and platform-specific versions, not one arcade game simply ported to modern consoles. Digital Eclipse’s launch FAQ and current product listing provide the complete roster and build details; the initial June 2025 announcement was an earlier snapshot. That announcement named these entries and versions:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors| Game | Versions listed in the June 2025 announcement |
|---|---|
| Mortal Kombat | Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, Game Gear |
| Mortal Kombat II | Arcade, SNES, Genesis, Game Boy, 32X |
| Mortal Kombat 3 | Arcade, SNES, Genesis |
| Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 | Arcade, SNES |
| Mortal Kombat 4 | Arcade |
| Mortal Kombat Advance | Game Boy Advance |
| Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance | Game Boy Advance |
| Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition | Game Boy Advance |
The announcement also teased an additional entry, so this early list should not be treated as the final roster. For the collection overview, see Digital Eclipse’s game page; for a launch-era FAQ, see its FAQ.

- No More Secrets: At the touch of a button, unlock all secret characters, change game settings, and access the buried developer menus to play the games your way.
What can you do with hidden characters and Fatalities?
The games contain secrets accessed through codes or inputs. The collection offers easier access to some secret characters, menus and bosses, and the PlayStation listing says players can unlock secret characters, change settings and access developer menus. That does not mean every secret in every version is automatically unlocked.
Practice finishing moves in Fatality Trainer
Fatality Trainer lets you practice Fatalities, Babalities, Animalities, Brutalities and Friendships. The mode freezes the timer, allows quick restarts and signals when your character is in range. It helps with practice; it does not perform the move for you. Digital Eclipse’s FAQ describes the trainer and hidden-content options.
What online and display features were added?
In an update dated April 28, 2026, Digital Eclipse said players on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch and PC could meet in online lobbies or quick-play sessions through crossplay. One exception applies: Mortal Kombat Trilogy crossplay is unavailable on original Nintendo Switch hardware because of technical limitations.

Online 2-on-2
The update added online 2-on-2 play for four specific versions:
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (Arcade)
- Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 (SNES)
- Mortal Kombat Trilogy (PS1)
- Mortal Kombat 4 (Arcade)
Variable refresh rate
The update also made variable refresh rate (VRR) a selectable option on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, Xbox One S, Nintendo Switch 2 handheld mode and PC. Digital Eclipse says VRR can match displays to the original arcade games’ nonstandard frame rates, usually around 53 Hz, and that some players may perceive lower input latency. The latency effect is the developer’s explanation, not a guaranteed result for every player or display. See the April 28, 2026 feature update for its platform and mode details.

What documentary extras are included?
Digital Eclipse describes a historical package alongside the games: interviews with original developers Ed Boon, John Tobias, John Vogel and Dan Forden, as well as additional interviews, concept art, vintage marketing material, archival video, a timeline of the original series story and character histories. These are features described by the developer, rather than an independent assessment of their depth or quality. The official game page outlines the collection and documentary material.
Which edition should you look for?
Digital Eclipse’s FAQ distinguishes the Day 1 Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition and Kollector’s Edition. The physical extras described for the latter two are useful to know, but the FAQ’s availability notes are historical, not a statement of current stock.

The FAQ said Kollector’s Edition preorders ended August 31, 2025 and that the edition was sold out when the FAQ was published. It projected shipment of the standard game copy for December 12, 2025 and the remaining Kollector’s Edition items during 2026. Those dates and availability statements do not confirm present stock; check a retailer’s current listing before buying. The US PlayStation Store displayed $49.99 when accessed for the listing information in this article, but prices vary by region and can change.
Digital Eclipse also identified Limited Run Games as the channel for Xbox physical preorders, which it said ended August 31, 2025 with no launch restock. That is historical retailer information, not confirmation of a current listing or inventory. The FAQ does not establish PS4/PS5 cross-buy or what features are available from a particular physical disc.
