At launch in October 2025, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection drew criticism for input delay and weak online matchmaking. Those reports describe the game’s early release, not a verified picture of performance today: Digital Eclipse subsequently issued latency and audio fixes, added Online Arcade, and announced cross-platform play in April 2026. The available updates do not establish that input delay has been eliminated on every platform.
What players criticized at launch
The complaints were real, but they were tied to the October–November 2025 release period. Nintendo Life’s Switch 2 review praised the collection’s 23 games and documentary, while reporting trouble finding Quick Play matches and input delay and audio problems after matches began. Its launch-era advice was to wait if online play was the main reason to buy. The review page was later updated to note that Krossplay arrived in April 2026, so its initial assessment should not be read as a description of the current feature set. On November 2, 2025, PC Gamer described early Steam reception as Mixed and summarized player complaints about input lag, quick-match-only matchmaking, and the lack of lobbies. It reported that 55% of Steam reviews were negative at that time. That is a launch-period snapshot, not the current rating or a measurement of present-day latency. PC Gamer’s November 2025 report

Launch FAQ: latency and matchmaking
In its October 29, 2025 launch FAQ, Digital Eclipse said PlayStation players in particular were experiencing input latency and that it was working to mitigate the issue across platforms. The FAQ described launch matchmaking as a title-specific quick-match system and said Online Arcade lobbies were planned. It also gave a practical interim suggestion: “For now, using a wired controller connection significantly reduces input latency in the current release.” The FAQ noted that some consoles may require USB cable communication to be enabled in system settings. That was mitigation advice for the release at the time, not a promise of zero delay. Digital Eclipse’s launch FAQ

November patch and December Online Arcade
Digital Eclipse’s November 4 patch notes list input-latency improvements across all games for PS4 and PS5, an improved online audio buffer, a connection-filter fix, and other game and stability fixes. The notes say platform updates were staggered, so the changes did not necessarily arrive everywhere at the same time. The same page records Online Arcade becoming available on December 18, 2025 for Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam. April 2026: Krossplay and 2v2
On April 28, 2026, Digital Eclipse announced Krossplay across PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and PC, plus support for online 2v2 modes and variable refresh rate (VRR) support on specified platforms. The announcement says the team would continue identifying fixes and improvements; it does not say that all input-latency problems have been resolved. Digital Eclipse’s Krossplay update
Does it still have input delay?
The evidence supports a precise answer: input delay was reported at launch, and Digital Eclipse shipped latency improvements, including a November patch for PS4 and PS5. But the available official updates and reviews do not provide current, comparable latency measurements by platform or confirm that all residual delay is gone as of October 8, 2026. It would be inaccurate to present the launch complaints as proof that the same severity persists now—or to claim the problem is completely fixed.

For a practical test, compare offline play with an online match on your own setup. If you want to try the developer’s launch-era mitigation, connect a compatible controller by USB and check your console’s settings for USB cable communication. This can reduce latency according to Digital Eclipse, but it is not a guaranteed fix and does not establish that one platform performs better than another.

Steam’s dynamic review snapshot accessed October 8, 2026 showed 63% positive from 1,212 all-time reviews, with an overall Mixed label; its recent-review snapshot was 75% positive from 24 reviews, labeled Mostly Positive. The recent sample is small, and both counts can change, so these figures do not settle the question of current input delay or represent every platform. Steam store page
