There was no verified all-purpose winner for Diablo 4 Season 7. In a January 19, 2025 discussion relaying an early Maxroll endgame tier list, Fire Bolt was the leading Sorcerer candidate for Pit pushing, while Lightning Spear was described as the better choice for farming and general play. That is a dated, indirect snapshot—not a final ranking or a universal performance test.
Which Sorcerer build was strongest in Season 7?
The answer depends on the activity. The available Season 7 comparison favors Fire Bolt for pushing the Pit and Lightning Spear for farming or general gameplay. The discussion does not establish one build as best across all content.

Why Season 7 balance changes matter
Season 7 was the Season of Witchcraft, with Witchcraft Powers and Occult Gems as seasonal systems. Season Blessing bonuses were also temporary and lasted only until the season ended. Its builds and seasonal interactions should therefore be treated as historical rather than as recommendations for the current Diablo 4 season. Blizzard’s Season of Witchcraft overview describes the seasonal systems.
Patch 2.1 also changed the Sorcerer’s balance context. Blizzard said Conjuration Mastery had pushed endgame builds toward maximizing the number of summoned conjurations, then renamed the passive Primordial Binding and changed its stacking and bonuses. Ball Lightning was adjusted too: Enhanced Ball Lightning gained an attack-speed effect after casting, Wizard’s Ball Lightning spawned two Crackling Energies on cast, and Mage’s Ball Lightning gained increased damage against stunned enemies. These changes explain the direction of class tuning; they do not prove which complete build finished Season 7 on top. See Blizzard’s Patch 2.1 notes for the official changes.

How to use this answer now
If you are looking back at Season 7, use Fire Bolt as the candidate for Pit progression and Lightning Spear as the candidate for general farming, while treating both as early, activity-specific guidance. If you are choosing a build to play now, check a current-season guide: the Season 7 ranking reflects a historical ruleset, not the live one. Game8’s Fireball endgame build page is marked as a legacy Season 7 build, illustrating why old seasonal recommendations need date and version context.
