The confirmed mouse uses are moving units around the battlefield and accessing helpful information; Nintendo has not published a detailed control map or a head-to-head comparison showing which option is faster, more comfortable, or more accurate.
What control options does Fortune’s Weave support?
Nintendo describes the game’s mouse feature this way: “For the first time in the Fire Emblem series, you can play with mouse controls using Joy-Con 2 controllers. Intuitively move units across the battlefield, quickly access helpful information, and more, changing seamlessly between button and mouse controls whenever you like.” (Nintendo’s game page.)
That confirms two input modes: mouse controls using Joy-Con 2 controllers, and button controls. Nintendo’s wording does not establish that a separate USB or Bluetooth computer mouse works with the game.
What can mouse controls do?
Nintendo specifically advertises using the mouse to move units across the battlefield and quickly access helpful information. The official feature description does not explain the individual gestures, button assignments, or which information panels can be opened this way, so it is not enough to provide a reliable step-by-step control guide.

Mouse controls vs. button controls
| Question | Joy-Con 2 mouse controls | Button controls |
|---|---|---|
| Confirmed input | Mouse controls using Joy-Con 2 controllers, according to Nintendo. | Button controls, according to Nintendo. |
| Use described by Nintendo | Move units across the battlefield and access helpful information. | A comparable task-by-task description is not stated on Nintendo’s feature page. |
| Switching | Nintendo says players can change between button and mouse controls seamlessly whenever they like. | |
| Which is quicker, more comfortable, or more accurate? | Not established by Nintendo’s feature description; it provides no comparative test or measured results. | |
The meaningful difference established so far is the way you interact: the mouse mode is presented for pointing across the battlefield and reaching information, while button input remains available. Whether that feels better for any particular player is a matter of preference, not a proven advantage.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is one control method better?
There is not enough published evidence to call either one the winner. Nintendo describes what mouse controls are intended to do, but does not provide hands-on comparisons, performance measurements, or a detailed button map. Choose according to which input feels more natural to you, and make use of the ability to switch rather than assuming you must commit to one method.
