Its U.S. specifications also list an 8-inch 1200p VRR touchscreen, 1TB SSD and 80Wh battery. Those are manufacturer-listed specifications; the official pages cited here do not establish an independent performance verdict.

MSI’s phrase “the very first MSI handheld equipped with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme Processor” appeared in its August 7, 2025 announcement. The claim is specific to MSI’s handhelds; it does not mean MSI was the first company to make a Ryzen-powered handheld. MSI’s Claw A8 announcement and setup guide also gives its initial setup advice: install Windows updates, then use MSI Center M’s Live Update to check for driver and BIOS updates.

How long does the Claw A8 battery last?
MSI publishes distinct battery-life figures for different uses; neither is a promise of general gaming runtime. Its product overview says a tested configuration achieved 19 hours or more of 1080p video playback. MSI describes that setup as a Z2 Extreme model with a 60Hz FHD display, 1TB SSD and 24GB RAM, at 150 cd/m² brightness, with lighting and Bluetooth disabled and Endurance Mode enabled. MSI says results vary by configuration. That video-playback figure should not be read as a gaming estimate.

Separately, MSI’s setup article says to expect about 3.5 hours of Diablo IV gameplay in Endurance Mode. That is MSI’s stated figure for that game and mode, not an independent test or guarantee for other titles, settings or play sessions. Battery life will depend on workload and configuration. Both claims are MSI figures, not independently verified measurements in the official pages cited here. MSI’s article.

The official specifications establish that the BZ2EM uses Ryzen Z2 Extreme, but they do not establish how it performs against Intel-based Claw models in independent, like-for-like testing. MSI does publish its own comparison against a Ryzen Z1 Extreme configuration: its product page reports game-specific gains of 32% in The Talos Principle 2, 23% in Starfield, 22% in Black Myth: Wukong, 18% in F1 24 and 17% in Forspoken. MSI says it tested at 1080p/Low with FSR enabled, frame generation when applicable, and Manual Mode at 17W, 28W and 33W. Those are vendor-controlled results for that comparison, not a cross-vendor benchmark or an independent verdict. MSI’s published comparison and methodology.

For a meaningful comparison with another handheld, match the game, resolution, graphics preset, power mode, battery mode, upscaling and frame-generation settings, and test duration. Also weigh the practical differences that specifications can establish—screen, memory, battery capacity, storage, weight, ports, operating system and local price—rather than treating a processor name or an unmatched benchmark as a complete answer.
