MSI’s U.S. store listed it at $399.99 in a snapshot taken around August 16, 2026, although pricing and availability can change.
What MSI actually launched
The 26.5-inch measurement refers to the panel’s actual diagonal. MSI markets the display as a 27-inch-class monitor, so “26.5-inch” and “27-inch” are not contradictory.

The model also needs to be identified carefully. MSI sells several closely related displays with the same basic QD-OLED and 240Hz description, including the MAG 273QP QD-OLED X24, MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24, MAG 271QPX QD-OLED E2 and the 4K MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24. Their ports, panel generation, firmware, stand features and sync certifications can differ.

#1 Best Overall
- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
What 240Hz means in practice
A 240Hz display can refresh up to 240 times per second. Each refresh interval is approximately 4.17 milliseconds, but the computer must render close to 240 frames per second to make full use of that capability.
The difference is most noticeable in competitive shooters, racing games and other fast titles where high frame rates improve motion clarity and responsiveness. Slower cinematic games, strategy games and desktop work benefit more from OLED’s contrast and fast pixel transitions than from moving beyond 144Hz.
MSI’s quoted 0.03ms GtG figure describes a panel transition under the manufacturer’s measurement method. It is not the total input latency from a mouse or controller to the image appearing on screen.

Why QD-OLED is attractive
OLED pixels can switch off individually, producing extremely deep blacks and effectively per-pixel contrast. QD-OLED’s quantum-dot color conversion also enables a wide color gamut and saturated colors. Those qualities are particularly visible in dark games, HDR scenes and images combining bright highlights with black backgrounds.
At 1440p, the MAG 272QP is also easier to drive at high frame rates than a 4K monitor. That makes the resolution a practical match for 240Hz gaming, especially with a midrange or upper-midrange graphics card.
The OLED compromises
- Burn-in risk: Static taskbars, browser interfaces, productivity windows and game HUDs can cause uneven pixel wear over time. OLED Care 2.0 features such as taskbar and logo detection reduce the risk but cannot make burn-in impossible.
- Brightness behavior: OLED monitors deliver excellent blacks, but peak HDR brightness may not be sustained across the entire screen. A True Black certification is not a guarantee of high full-screen brightness.
- Text rendering: The QD-OLED subpixel layout can produce color fringing or less-clean text edges than a conventional RGB-stripe LCD. The effect varies with scaling, viewing distance and panel generation.
- Static desktop use: Anyone spending most of the day in spreadsheets, browser windows or an IDE should consider an LCD, or use screen blanking, dark themes and other static-image precautions.
- Protection interruptions: Automatic dimming and compensation cycles can alter luminance or briefly interrupt use.
1440p/240Hz versus 4K/240Hz
MSI’s MAG 272UP QD-OLED X24 keeps the 26.5-inch size and 240Hz refresh rate but raises resolution to 3840×2160. MSI lists it as using a fourth-generation QD-OLED panel, with a claimed 0.03ms GtG response time. Its U.S. store price was listed at $699.99 in the same research snapshot.

- Quality Visuals: The KG271U 27" IPS monitor with 2560 x 1440 QHD resolution in a 16:9 aspect ratio presents stunning, high-quality images with excellent detail. The zero-frame design does away with the thick frames found on conventional monitors freeing up precious screen space.
- AMD FreeSync Technology: Say “goodbye” to stuttering and tearing. With AMD FreeSync, the monitor’s frames are synced with the graphics card’s frames, which eliminates screen tearing and provide the smoothest gaming experience.
- Up to 180Hz: The 180Hz refresh rate speeds up the frames per second to deliver an ultra-smooth 2D motion scene. With a rapid refresh rate of up to 180Hz, Acer Gaming Monitors shorten the time it takes for frame rendering, lower input lag and provide gamers an excellent in-game experience.
- Responsive!!: Up to 0.5ms GTG (Gray to Gray) response time enhanced gamers’ in-game experience. No matter the fast-moving action or any dramatic transitions will be all rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting with KG271U Gaming Monitor.
- New Depths of Color Accuracy: is monitor is ideal for color-critical projects producing accurate colors, supporting DCI-P3 95%. An amazing monitor for graphic designers, photographers, and film editors.
| Choose | Why |
|---|---|
| MAG 272QP, 1440p/240Hz | Better value, lower GPU demand and a stronger fit for competitive gaming. |
| MAG 272UP, 4K/240Hz | Sharper text and finer detail for high-end gaming, media creation and desktop use. |
At this size, 1440p is roughly 111 pixels per inch, while 4K is roughly 166 pixels per inch. The 4K model is visibly sharper, but demanding games require substantially more graphics performance to reach high frame rates.

Warranty and availability
MSI’s U.S. store listing states that the MAG 272QP includes a three-year warranty with OLED burn-in coverage. That wording is specific to MSI’s U.S. information; terms can vary by country, retailer and exact model. Keep proof of purchase and review the local warranty before buying. Coverage does not remove the need to use OLED Care and sensible static-image precautions.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who should buy the MAG 272QP?
It is a compelling choice for competitive PC gamers who want OLED contrast and extremely fast motion handling without the GPU burden or price of 4K/240Hz. It is also the more sensible option for buyers whose graphics card can sustain very high frame rates at 1440p but not at 4K.
Choose a 4K model instead if fine desktop text and image detail matter more than maximum competitive frame rates. Choose an LCD if the monitor will display static productivity content for many hours every day and you are unwilling to manage OLED protection features.
