This is a VST2 plugin. It is not:

• A normal Windows DLL
• A Microsoft runtime file
• A hardware driver
• A file that belongs in C:WindowsSystem32
• A file that belongs in C:WindowsSysWOW64

The VST2 installation also requires:

MT-PowerDrumKit.dll

Keep these files in the same VST folder. The DLL can be present while the plugin still reports “The content file is missing” if the .pdk file was deleted, quarantined, or left in another directory.

MT-PowerDrumKit.vst3

Do not mix the VST2 DLL with a VST3 installation or assume that copying one format repairs the other.

Cause-by-symptom table

Fix 1: Reinstall the complete official VST2 package

This is the most likely solution for a missing or misplaced file.

1. Close the DAW completely. Check Task Manager if necessary and end the DAW process before continuing.
2. Open the official MT Power Drum Kit download page in your browser.
3. Download the Windows VST2 package from MANDA AUDIO. Do not download an isolated DLL.
4. Open the downloaded ZIP or installer.
5. Choose a simple VST folder, such as:

Fix 3: Restore the missing content file

If the DLL exists but the plugin displays “The content file is missing”, the problem is usually not Windows. It means the required content file is unavailable to the plugin.

Confirm that both files are in the same directory:

MT-PowerDrumKit.dll
MT-PowerDrumKit-Content.pdk

Do not put the .pdk file in a general samples folder unless the vendor’s instructions for your package specifically require it. For the standard Windows VST2 setup, extract the two files together into the VST folder.

If the .pdk file is missing:

1. Delete the incomplete plugin copy.

The cataloged 2.0.7.0 file is a 64-bit copy listed at approximately 6.55 MB, but that identification describes a cataloged copy rather than the current official release. Use the current official package and match its architecture to the host.

Fix 5: Check the DAW’s actual VST search path

Installing a plugin does not make it visible to every DAW automatically. The host must scan the directory containing the DLL.

1. Open the DAW.
2. Go to its Preferences, Settings, or Plugin Manager area.
3. Locate the VST2 directory list.
4. Compare those paths with the folder containing MT-PowerDrumKit.dll.
5. Add the correct folder if it is absent.

If you use both VST2 and VST3, check the format-specific settings. The VST3 file normally belongs in one of these locations:

Microsoft provides separate Visual C++ Redistributable packages for x86 and x64 applications. Install the package matching the DAW architecture, then restart Windows and rescan the plugin.

Do not install random runtime DLLs individually. If the error names mt-powerdrumkit.dll itself, return to the complete plugin installation steps.

Fix 9: Repair Windows components only when other programs are failing

SFC and DISM repair protected Windows components. They do not normally restore a third-party VST deleted from C:VstPlugins or another custom plugin directory.

Use them when Windows itself has broader corruption symptoms:

Running regsvr32 may produce an entry-point, architecture, or module error and can distract from the actual issue: a missing companion file, incorrect VST path, duplicate copy, or incompatible host architecture.

When to reinstall or update the plugin again

If the plugin loads but the interface is blank, the DAW freezes, or it crashes while closing, that is a separate compatibility or version issue rather than a simple missing-DLL error.

Remove the old copy, install the current official build, and rescan it. The vendor has published fixes for some freeze and close problems and provides alternate builds for persistent interface issues.
