What this MultiVersus tier list can—and cannot—tell you
Tier lists rank fighters according to an author’s assumptions, experience, and chosen game mode. They are not objective measurements of a character’s strength. The accessible Gamer Guides list explicitly describes its rankings as opinion-based and says they could change as players learned more. Its guide was released July 25, 2022, and last updated August 24, 2022, during the open-beta era. Read the Gamer Guides tier list.
The guide refers to ladder knowledge and community tournaments, but it does not establish that its placements come from a systematic tournament dataset or ladder statistics. Treat the placements as the guide author’s judgment at that time, not a verified competitive consensus or a ranking for the game’s final live balance.
Historical 1v1 and 2v2 S-tier examples
The 2022 guide published separate rankings for each mode. Its S-tier examples show why the mode matters: team utility and ally-oriented abilities can affect a fighter’s value in 2v2 in ways that do not apply in a solo match.

The guide notes that support-oriented roles can be disadvantaged in 1v1 and discusses team utility in 2v2. That is useful context for interpreting its two lists, but it does not make the historical placements valid for another game version or balance state.
Why a fighter’s tier depends on the mode
1v1
A solo ranking considers how a fighter performs without a teammate to enable or benefit from ally-focused abilities. A character’s value in 1v1 therefore cannot be inferred from a 2v2 placement alone.

2v2
In team matches, a fighter’s abilities and fit with a partner can contribute to the team’s effectiveness. A 2v2 ranking may consequently value team utility that a solo list does not. Compare rankings within the same mode rather than treating one combined tier list as universal.
Roster and ranked-play context
The MultiVersus Wiki reports 35 playable fighters, classified into Assassin, Bruiser, Mage, and Tank roles. This is a wiki-reported count, not an independently verified official current roster figure. See the MultiVersus Wiki roster information.

The MultiVersus Wiki reports that online functionality shut down on May 30, 2025. It says offline play continues for users who logged in during Season 5. The cited material does not establish a current online ladder or live balance environment, and it is fan-wiki reporting rather than publisher documentation. How to use old rankings
- Check the date and game era before applying any placement: the accessible Gamer Guides ranking is from 2022’s open-beta period.
- Use the mode-specific list that matches the question—1v1 or 2v2—and do not transfer a placement between them automatically.
- Read the ranking as an author’s opinion, not as proof of a tournament consensus, official balance verdict, or current meta.
- Do not treat the ranked queue’s historical rules or ladder structure as evidence that online play remains available.
