The February 15, 2023 Season 2 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II (MWII) and Warzone 2.0 was reported at about 22 GB on PS5. Reliable platform-specific download sizes for Xbox and PC were not established in the contemporaneous reports reviewed, so 22 GB should not be treated as a universal figure.
Season 2 update size by platform
| Platform | Reported download size | What the reporting establishes |
|---|---|---|
| PS5 | About 22 GB | ingame.de reported a 22 GB preload on February 15, 2023. Silent PC Review reported 22.1 GB but gives a conflicting 21.1 GB figure elsewhere in its February 15 article. Treat the size as approximate, not an exact decimal. ingame.de; Silent PC Review |
| Xbox | Not reliably established | The contemporaneous reports reviewed do not provide a dependable Xbox-specific size. ingame.de said rollout to Xbox followed later on February 15, but did not give a file size. ingame.de |
| PC | Not reliably established | The contemporaneous reports reviewed do not provide a dependable PC-specific size. Silent PC Review explicitly said it had no PC size report; its suggestion that it might be similar to PS5 was speculation, not a measured figure. Silent PC Review |
Why the download size could differ
The reported PS5 figure was a preload size, not a guarantee of identical downloads across every setup. ingame.de cautioned that the update size varied by platform and whether a player had only Warzone 2.0 installed or also had MWII. The reporting does not provide a verified size for every combination.

Keep the update download separate from the full installed game size and from any extra temporary disk space a platform might need while applying a patch. The available reports do not verify those figures for this update.
Which Season 2 update this refers to
This is the Season 2 launch for MWII and Warzone 2.0 on February 15, 2023. It is not the original Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2. Search results can mix the two games: an approximately 14 GB figure associated with the older Warzone context should not be applied to this update.

- Call of Duty: Modern Wafare II PS5
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster Modern Warfare.
- Featuring the return of the iconic, team leader Captain John Price, the fearless John "Soap" MacTavish, the seasoned Sergeant Kyle "Gaz” Garrick, and the lone wolf himself, fan favorite Simon “Ghost” Riley, players will witness what makes Task Force 141 the legendary squad it is today.
- Some features may require an internet connection and an online subscription
The patch brought Season 2 content to both games, including Ashika Island for Warzone 2.0. A similarly named Activision announcement from March 2021 concerns Black Ops Cold War and the original Warzone, not MWII and Warzone 2.0. Activision’s March 2021 announcement is therefore not a source for the 2023 download size.

What to do if you are installing it now
- Check the update size shown by your own console or PC launcher; that is the relevant figure for your platform and installed content.
- Allow for the possibility that the download differs from the reported PS5 preload if your platform or installed game content differs.
- If your PS5 is short on space, review installed games and captures before considering storage expansion. The reported update size alone does not mean you need to buy an SSD.
