Some players called for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III’s 10v10 Mosh Pit to become permanent in November 2023, praising its faster, more populated matches. Activision later announced that 10v10 Mosh Pit would be among the Featured Playlists made permanently available as MWIII’s live season ended. The matchmaking difference some players described, however, was a perception—not a verified change.
What is MWIII 10v10 Mosh Pit?
It is a Featured Playlist that puts ten players on each team in matches on maps normally designed for 6v6. A moshpit is a collection of selected default modes, rather than a single mode players choose on its own. Activision’s MWIII multiplayer guide explains both the 10v10 format and that Featured Playlists can rotate, with different modes or rulesets appearing over time.

Compared with ordinary 6v6, the larger teams can make the same map feel busier and the action more constant. That is a difference in format and player experience, not a measured claim that every match is faster or more intense.
Why did players want the playlist to stay?
A November 23, 2023 report by Charlie INTEL collected player reactions when the playlist appeared. Several comments asked for it to remain, with some players saying it was unusually fun or more enjoyable than standard Quick Play. One commenter, as quoted by the outlet, wrote: “10v10 in MWIII is…honestly the most fun I’ve had in call duty in years.”

More players meant a livelier match for some
Players who liked the playlist pointed to its greater player density and the sense of more frequent action compared with 6v6. The format plausibly contributes to that impression: ten players per team are sharing maps typically built for six per team. But the available comments are personal reactions, not a controlled comparison of match pace.
A rotating playlist made permanence matter
Featured Playlists change regularly, according to Activision’s guide. That means a favorite playlist can be replaced in a rotation, giving fans a reason to ask that it remain available instead. Comments reported by Charlie INTEL included “Needs to be a permanent mode!” and “It’s amazing and needs to stay permanently.” These show that some players wanted permanence; they do not establish how widespread that view was.

Did 10v10 have less restrictive matchmaking?
Some players thought so. One commenter quoted by Charlie INTEL said they felt skill-based matchmaking was “heavily reduced,” describing a mix of less experienced, highly skilled, and average players in their lobbies. Other commenters cautioned that the perceived difference might be temporary or a placebo.
Those remarks document player impressions, not a confirmed matchmaking adjustment. The report does not verify that Activision changed matchmaking for 10v10 or establish how its matchmaking compared with 6v6. It is therefore more accurate to say that some players liked what they perceived as a broader mix of opponents than to claim the playlist objectively used less restrictive matchmaking.

Did Activision make 10v10 Mosh Pit permanent?
Yes: Activision later announced that it was making the playlist permanently available as MWIII’s live season ended. The Season 6 patch notes state, “As the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III live season ends, the following Featured Playlists are now available permanently,” and include “10v10 Mosh Pit” in the list. That announcement records the publisher’s 2024 decision; it does not confirm the playlist’s live menu status in 2026.
The announcement establishes that Activision made the playlist permanently available, but it does not give a reason for the decision or say that player requests caused it. Nor do the cited sources provide a player count, poll, or other measure of how popular the playlist was.
