1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsModern Warfare III players have reported being kicked for inactivity while moving, playing objectives, being revived, or using killstreaks and manually controlled equipment. Those accounts show the complaint is real, but they do not establish how often it happens or prove a widespread timer bug. Activision’s available support and patch-note material does not confirm a general fix or explain what actions the timer recognizes.
What players say is happening
Players have described receiving an inactivity kick despite believing they were actively participating. One Blizzard forum poster wrote on December 21, 2023, that they had been “KICKED FOR INACTIVITY” while moving and while someone was reviving them. The reply pointed out that Blizzard does not make Activision’s Call of Duty games and directed the player to Activision support. Read the forum post.

Other player reports describe kicks during objective play, while using a Chopper Gunner or manually controlled sentry, and while moving around. These are individual accounts, not verified telemetry or controlled tests, so they cannot establish whether all the reports share one cause or how frequently the problem occurs. One MWIII discussion and reports about a Chopper Gunner, manual sentry control, and being kicked while moving illustrate the range of player-described situations.
Is the inactivity behavior a confirmed, widespread bug?
The accounts support saying that some players report being kicked during actions they consider legitimate. They do not prove that MWIII’s inactivity timer is broadly malfunctioning, that every account reflects the same mechanism, or that there is a confirmed widespread bug.

Activision’s MWIII support page lists a Known Issues resource. The available support listing showed an update date of August 7, 2026, but the returned page material did not identify inactivity kicks as a tracked issue. That absence in the listing is not proof that the live Known Issues page has no relevant entry; check the current page for the latest status.
Has Activision issued a fix?
The official November 30, 2023 preseason patch notes cover various MWIII fixes but do not document a fix for general multiplayer inactivity kicks.

- Combat means making choices — different loadouts, different paths through the mission. Combat missions that provide more player choice. There is no one-size-fits-all solution – it is your choice whether to take the stealthy approach or go loud taking on any and all foes.
- One of the greatest collections of Multiplayer maps ever. Launching with new Ground War maps boasting innovative play spaces and the epic return and evolution of the popular War Mode
The Season 5 patch notes mention a specific change: a minigame will no longer warn players for inactivity. That is a narrow, mode-specific note; it does not confirm a fix to the inactivity timer in ordinary multiplayer matches. The cited patch-note material therefore does not support claiming that a general fix has shipped.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What is known about the timer—and what is not
The available official material and player reports do not explain the timer’s internal detection logic, state a reliable threshold, or establish which input reliably resets it. Community theories about movement patterns, camping, being downed, killstreaks, or anti-AFK detection should be treated as speculation, not as an authoritative explanation.

There is no substantiated action, controller change, or settings adjustment that can be presented as a guaranteed way to prevent a kick. Claims that a particular movement or input resets the timer would go beyond what these sources establish.
What to record if you report a kick
If this happens to you, capture the circumstances so support can distinguish your report from a general description. This is practical reporting guidance, not a confirmed fix.
Quick Recap
- Record the game mode and platform.
- Note what was happening immediately before the kick—for example, moving, contesting an objective, being revived, or controlling equipment.
- Save the exact warning or kick text, if shown.
- Include the game version and when the match took place.
- Check Activision’s current MWIII Known Issues and support resources for an acknowledgment or updated instructions.
