Cyan says all existing copies were manufactured in 2018. Its 2025 resale consisted of remaining Kickstarter stock, and the company said it had no plans for another resale. Any copy available now should therefore be assessed as a specific collectible listing, with its variant, condition, completeness and provenance checked individually.
What is the Myst Linking Book replica?
Cyan’s 25th Anniversary edition reproduces the book prop at 1:1 scale. It is a physical display collectible, with selected versions incorporating a screen and speaker to evoke the in-game book. Cyan’s product page identifies the item and its variants: Cyan.
Although often shortened to “Myst Linking Book,” the product in this article is the 25th Anniversary replica. It is distinct from the fictional Linking Books in the series and from Myst books in print.
Specifications and variant differences
Cyan’s published specifications give the replica a size of 7 × 9 × 2.5 inches (18 × 25 × 6 cm) and a weight of 2.71 pounds (1.23 kg). The listed materials are 1200g grey board and art paper with a matte finish; the logo and edges of the leather art treatments have embossed and gold-foil details.

When was it made, and can you still buy one from Cyan?
Cyan says every existing unit was manufactured in 2018 and first offered as a reward tier to Kickstarter backers at the “Bookmaker” tier or higher. In 2025, Cyan offered remaining stock held from that campaign; the company said no new units had been manufactured since the Kickstarter and it had no plans for a future resale of that remaining stock. That describes Cyan’s stated stock and plans at the time, rather than a guarantee that plans can never change.

Cyan characterized the books as coveted and said they had sold for higher prices on other marketplaces, but that is not a verified current price or a study of completed sales. Current availability, asking prices, transaction values and authenticity of individual resale listings are not established by that statement. Search terms such as “Myst 25th Anniversary Linking Book” identify the collectible, but verify any particular offer rather than assuming Cyan currently sells it.

Battery, charging and care for LCD versions
Cyan says the LCD battery cannot be accessed without taking the book apart. The book was not designed to be disassembled, and Cyan provides no recommendation or guidance for battery replacement. Its care guidance advises using the charging cable supplied with the LCD version and a power source rated for the charging requirements in the accompanying document. Avoid opening the book on the assumption that the battery is meant to be user-replaceable.
What Cyan’s battery check does—and does not—show
Cyan reported a check conducted October 17–24, 2025, on five LCD books manufactured in 2018 and stored at room temperature in a low-humidity environment. The company charged them fully, left them unplugged for a week, and then checked their charge indication and playback. All five showed 100% at the first check and played audio and video; after playback, their indicated charge averaged about 70%.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does Cyan’s warranty cover a used or marketplace copy?
No general coverage for every copy is established by Cyan’s published resale warranty. The policy applied only to Linking Books bought from Cyan’s 2025 store resale. It allowed reports of LCD or battery-function issues on LCD models within six months of purchase; shipping damage and missing or defective pen-and-inkwell parts had a one-month-from-delivery reporting window. Customer-caused damage and ordinary wear were excluded, and replacements were unavailable because supply was limited.

Can you buy Gehn’s pen and inkwell separately?
Cyan says it has no separate stock of Gehn’s pen and inkwell and that they cannot be purchased separately from a Linking Book that includes them. This is about Cyan’s inventory; it does not establish whether an individual secondhand seller may offer an accessory separately.
