Its project repository lists Windows and Linux downloads and features for installing or uninstalling mods, enabling or disabling them, editing configuration, and launching the game through Steam. The steps below reflect the project repository and PC guides available as of October 8, 2026—not a verified snapshot of the manager or its interface in 2024.
What Monke Mod Manager does
The project describes MMM as “A simple, fast, and cross-platform mod manager for ‘Gorilla Tag’ mods.” Its README lists installation and uninstallation, a mod list, enable/disable controls, configuration editing, and launching Gorilla Tag through Steam. Check the current release notes and project page for the build and features available to you: Monke Mod Manager on GitHub.
MMM is software, not a mod itself, and having a manager does not establish that a particular mod works with the current game or is permitted in gameplay.
Install Monke Mod Manager for PC Gorilla Tag
The beginner guide cited here covers the PC version of Gorilla Tag. It does not provide instructions for installing mods into the standalone Quest game.

Open the project’s GitHub page and follow its release links to obtain the Windows or Linux build. Use the project’s own route rather than an unrelated download page, and review the current release notes.

Run the downloaded manager executable.

Confirm the Gorilla Tag installation path. The PC beginner guide says the manager should fill in the folder automatically. If the game is installed somewhere else, select the location of
Gorilla Tag.exewhen prompted. -
When the manager presents its available mods, select the mods you want and use its install or update function. The community guide describes selecting installed mods and pressing Install/Update; exact controls may vary by current release.

A game update can leave previously installed mods out of date. The PC updating guide recommends selecting installed mods in the manager and using Install/Update. Before launching, check current announcements and each mod author’s compatibility notes; the manager’s presence in a list does not guarantee a mod still works with the game version you have.
Follow the guide’s update instructions at PC Mod Updating. The guide is community documentation, so consult its current text and the mod author’s instructions rather than assuming old steps remain accurate.

If Monke Mod Manager is not working
There is no single confirmed cause for every setup problem. Check the parts of the process that the PC guide specifically calls out:

Verify the platform. The cited beginner instructions are for PC Gorilla Tag, not the standalone Quest installation.

Check compatibility. If the game updated recently, look for newer mod releases or author guidance before trying the mod again.

Use the project’s release route. Recheck the current GitHub release notes and download links if the executable or available features differ from an older guide.

Manager installation versus manual installation
The manager is the guided installation and update route described by the project and PC guide. Manual installation is an alternative documented by the community guide, not a paid requirement. If you install manually, follow that mod’s own instructions, check its dependencies, and place files only where those instructions specify. The guide notes that DLL files usually belong in BepInEx/plugins; “usually” is not a substitute for checking the mod’s requirements.
PC and standalone Quest are different setups
The cited MMM beginner guide explicitly applies to PC Gorilla Tag and directs Quest players without Link to a separate Quest guide. The sources here do not establish support for installing mods into the standalone Quest game through MMM. A PCVR setup—where the game runs on a computer—is not the same as modding the Quest’s standalone installation.
Check Gorilla Tag’s rules and mod policy
Another Axiom’s current Gorilla Tag FAQ and contact page lists the Code of Conduct rule “NO CHEATS OR MODS.” A separate Fan Content & Mod Policy sets conditions for community mod and fan-content use, including limits on commercial use and monetization, specified distribution routes, and a non-affiliation disclaimer. The policy says: “Another Axiom is not required to monitor and does not endorse or approve any Mods or Fan Content.”
Those pages address different things: a manager can install software, but that does not grant permission to use it in ordinary gameplay or mean a mod is approved. Read the current official rules and policy before creating, distributing, or using mods; they may change, and this guide is not legal advice.
