Naughty Dog’s announced next game is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a PlayStation 5 sci-fi adventure due for a full reveal in 2027. The studio has also confirmed two additional The Last of Us projects, but describes them as being in very early stages and has not announced their titles, formats, platforms, or timing.
What Naughty Dog has officially announced
In a September 28, 2026 update, studio head Neil Druckmann clarified the status of the projects fans have been asking about. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet remains Naughty Dog’s next game; separately, the studio has a couple of new The Last of Us projects in very early development. These are not three equally detailed game announcements: only Intergalactic has a title, platform, premise, and planned reveal window.

When will Naughty Dog show Intergalactic again?
Druckmann said the studio will be quiet about Intergalactic for the rest of 2026, then fully reveal it in 2027 and give players a proper look at Jordan’s adventure. That is a reveal window, not a launch window: Naughty Dog has not announced a release date.
The game was first announced on December 12, 2024, when Naughty Dog said it was in development for PS5. In the new update, Druckmann described it as shaping up to be the studio’s most ambitious game yet. That is his characterization, not a measurable comparison with the studio’s earlier releases.

What is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet about?
The game follows Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter stranded on Sempiria. The planet’s communications with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago, and people who traveled there in search of its past were never heard from again. Jordan hopes to become the first person in more than 600 years to leave its orbit.
Naughty Dog introduced Intergalactic as a new franchise and a character-driven sci-fi adventure. Druckmann said the gameplay aims to be the deepest in the studio’s history; that, too, is a studio ambition rather than an independently established comparison. Tati Gabrielle plays Jordan, and Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are composing the score. Naughty Dog said more cast details would come later.

What is known about the new The Last of Us projects?
Druckmann said Naughty Dog has “a couple of very exciting new projects in very early stages” and that both will expand the canon beyond The Last of Us Part I and Part II. The post does not identify either project or say whether they are games or another format. It also gives no platforms, story details, or schedule. The announcement confirms that more stories are being developed, but not what form they will take or when they will be revealed.
