NBA 2K25 will stop being available for purchase on October 30, 2026, but the game is not set to become entirely unplayable. 2K says existing owners can still redownload it and play offline modes. Online modes, including MyCAREER and MyTEAM, will shut down on January 1, 2027.
NBA 2K25 delisting and shutdown dates
2K Support’s NBA 2K25: Server Sunset notice, published September 3 and updated October 2, 2026, sets out three separate dates:

These dates describe different changes: the purchase cutoff comes first, the notice’s stated discontinuation date follows, and online functionality ends the next day.
What owners can still play
2K says existing owners can redownload NBA 2K25 and continue playing offline. The notice names these modes as remaining available:

Features that require a connection to 2K’s servers will not remain available. That includes multiplayer, Online Leagues, and community sharing.
Will MyCAREER and MyTEAM work after the shutdown?
No. 2K specifically says MyCAREER and MyTEAM will no longer be available beginning January 1, 2027. Players also will not be able to earn VC from that date.

Why is NBA 2K25 being delisted?
2K’s support notice announces the purchase cutoff and service sunset; it does not give a reason for the decision. NBA 2K25 was released in September 2024, according to ComicBook.com’s October 5, 2026 report. 2K Support’s announcement opens by saying the game is to be discontinued as of December 31, 2026; that is publisher wording, not a statement attributed to a named individual.
