How does the day-and-night progression work?
Heat splits its racing into two modes with different rewards and stakes. During the day, sanctioned Speedhunter Showdown events earn Bank, which is used for customization and upgrades. At night, illegal races build REP while exposing you to police pressure. EA’s game page

Does Need for Speed Heat have cross-play?
Yes. Cross-play is available among PC (Origin or Steam), PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. EA’s support instructions allow players to enable or disable it; opting out limits races to people on the same system. Cross-platform friends cannot join the same Crew or share some community content, including wraps and screenshots. EA cross-play support
