Netmarble and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Game of Thrones: Kingsroad on December 13, 2024, as an officially licensed action-adventure RPG initially planned for mobile in 2025. Netmarble later announced a May 21, 2025 release on mobile and PC. The announcement date and the subsequent release details are separate milestones.
What Netmarble and Warner Bros. announced
The December 13, 2024 announcement introduced Game of Thrones: Kingsroad as a game set in HBO’s Game of Thrones universe. Its story begins during season four. Players create a new character who becomes heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North, and is drawn into political conflict and threats beyond the Wall. Netmarble CEO Young-sig Kwon said in that announcement: “We believe Game of Thrones is a world rich with untold stories and adventures, and we’re pleased to bring Westeros to life in an exciting new way for gamers.”
When did Kingsroad come out, and where can you play it?
Netmarble announced a May 21, 2025 launch date in an April 29 release-date notice. The notice said Steam players could buy Founder’s Packs offering Early Access and in-game content, and that mobile preregistration was available through Apple’s App Store and Google Play. On May 21, 2025, Netmarble said the game was available on mobile and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Windows Launcher. Its launch notice named the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East, and said Asian timing would be announced later that year. What is the game’s setting?
The May 2025 launch announcement describes a large open-world setting with locations including King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden, and the Wall. Players follow the House Tyre heir through Westeros, with the original premise connecting the character to political struggles and dangers beyond the Wall. The game is described by Netmarble as an action-adventure RPG.

These are the three classes named in the December 2024 announcement and reiterated in the May 2025 launch notice. The available announcements do not provide enough detail to compare their abilities or recommend one for a particular play style.

No. Books and merchandise are adjacent franchise products, not game equipment or requirements. Netmarble notes that HBO’s series is based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, which readers can explore as optional source material. Its announcement also lists licensed HBO merchandise categories such as collectibles, apparel, and publishing, and says merchandise is sold through retail stores and the HBO Shop in the United States.
