A separate 2026 update now has a one-day date discrepancy between Netmarble’s newsroom and its official game page.
When did Game of Thrones: Kingsroad launch?
Netmarble announced the game’s availability on May 21, 2025. Its April 29 release-date announcement had previewed May 21 as the planned launch date and described pre-registration through the App Store and Google Play. The May 21 announcement confirmed availability that day.
Netmarble described Kingsroad as an action-adventure RPG officially licensed by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on behalf of HBO. The launch announcement’s subtitle placed its new story in the latter half of season four of the HBO drama.
What platforms is Kingsroad on?
The launch announcement named iOS and Android mobile devices, plus three PC options: Steam, Epic Games Store and the Windows Launcher. These are the digital platforms listed for the May 2025 release.

Where did the game launch?
Netmarble’s May 21 announcement listed the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania and the Middle East as launch regions. It said Asia timing would be announced later, so “global” in the launch framing should not be read as confirmation of availability in every region on that date.
What is the story of Kingsroad?
The player becomes a new character and heir to House Tyre, a small noble house in the North. Netmarble said players could choose among three classes:

In its pre-launch announcement, Netmarble described exploration across Westeros and free roaming in King’s Landing, Castle Black, Highgarden and the Wall. That is the publisher’s description; it does not, by itself, establish the map’s size or how open-world systems work in play.
What is changing in the 2026 Global Content Alignment update?
In a September 14, 2026 announcement, Netmarble described Global Content Alignment as a substantial update affecting progression, combat, visuals, the game economy and multiplayer. The company said the redesign would focus on Membership and Battle Pass systems, rebalance combat and growth, and add a Dual Weapon System.

Netmarble said players would be able to keep existing characters on the Western Server or opt into the redesigned Global Content Alignment server. The announcement also described rewards based on progression and cumulative purchase history. It said a Season 3 update featuring a Stormlands storyline would follow.
The announced date differs across official pages
Netmarble’s September 14 newsroom announcement gave October 13, 2026 as the planned date for Global Content Alignment. The official game page, checked October 8, lists the update as 2026/10/14. The page also lists a reward claim period of September 22 through December 31 (UTC) and pre-registration from September 22 through October 13 (UTC). The two official sources therefore show different update dates; the discrepancy is unresolved.

What Netmarble said about the launch
In a company announcement at the time of the game’s December 2024 reveal, Netmarble CEO Young-sig Kwon said: “We believe Game of Thrones is a world rich with untold stories and adventures, and we’re pleased to bring Westeros to life in an exciting new way for gamers.” This is the company’s launch framing, not an independent assessment of the game.
