That explains the “Genshin Impact meets Need for Speed” shorthand—but it is a description of the game’s ingredients, not evidence that NTE copies either series’ mechanics or overall feel.
What Neverness to Everness is
Developed by Hotta Studio, NTE is a supernatural urban open-world RPG set in Hethereau. Its official premise casts the player as an unlicensed Anomaly Hunter who joins the antique shop Eibon and takes on commissions involving the city’s anomalies. The game’s announcement sums up that setting with the line, “Welcome to Hethereau, where anomalies are the new normal.” Official announcement
That setup gives the game two complementary sides: investigating a strange city and spending time in it. Combat and companions serve the supernatural-adventure side; driving and everyday activities make Hethereau more than a backdrop.
Why the Genshin Impact comparison fits—and where it stops
The comparison is useful as a quick mental picture: NTE has an open world, characters and supernatural action, alongside a large urban environment to explore. But the official descriptions do not establish that its combat, progression or other systems work like Genshin Impact. The resemblance is a broad pitch, not a verified one-to-one gameplay comparison.
Why Need for Speed comes to mind
Cars are part of how players move through Hethereau, and driving has activities and atmosphere of its own. In an April 20, 2026 PlayStation Blog feature, Hotta Studio producer Kee Zhang described in-car radio, companion rides and jobs including taxi driving and deliveries. The article also described a garage of cars and collaborations involving Persona 5 and Porsche. It does not establish a complete collaboration list or how long any collaboration will be available, so those details should not be taken as a promise of permanent or universal access.
That gives NTE a recognizable driving-game flavor, but the feature does not establish that it is a racing game or that its driving handles like Need for Speed. Its documented focus is broader: driving is one part of an urban supernatural RPG.
What you can do around the city
The same PlayStation feature describes activities that extend beyond investigation and driving. Zhang discussed homes, business and storefront activities, fishing and social hangouts. Companions can ride along, and players can invite them to move into their homes. Together, those features point to a city-life layer alongside the action and exploration.

The PlayStation Blog also says the PS5 version uses DualSense haptic feedback for combat strikes and important story moments. That is a platform-specific detail, not a requirement to play: NTE is also listed for PC and mobile.

NTE’s official FAQ gives a global launch time of April 29, 2026, at 11:00 UTC+8. It lists Windows PC, iOS, Android, Apple Mac, Google Play PC, PS5 and PS5 Pro, and says account progress carries over across platforms. Consult the official FAQ for the current platform and requirement details, which can change.

There is a storefront-specific date difference worth noting: the English Steam listing gives July 7, 2026, while the official FAQ states April 29, 2026, as the global launch. NTE may appeal if you want an urban fantasy RPG where the city itself supports a mix of missions, character encounters and downtime. The documented features also make it worth watching for players who like open-world exploration with driving and social or life-sim activities mixed in. The available official descriptions are not enough to predict how deep those systems are or how they compare moment to moment with Genshin Impact or Need for Speed.
