Official Pokémon announcements name newly revealed Mega Evolutions for Pokémon Legends: Z-A, alongside returning forms and additional forms in the Mega Dimension DLC. The list below covers the forms confirmed by the official pages cited here; it is not a verified exhaustive roster, because the retrieved Mega Evolution gallery text exposes only its first carousel panel.
Which Mega Pokémon are announced for Pokémon Legends: Z-A?
“New” can mean a Mega form newly revealed for this game or a design that is new to the Pokémon franchise. Those are not always the same. The table separates the forms and notes when an official announcement explicitly describes them as newly discovered or new Mega Evolutions.
| Form(s) | Game context | What the official page says |
|---|---|---|
| Mega Victreebel | Pokémon Legends: Z-A | Introduced as a newly discovered Mega-Evolved Pokémon making its debut in the game. Its announcement describes its enlarged body and leaves, bouncing movement, Sludge Bomb, and acid held by its vines. Official announcement. |
| Mega Hawlucha | Pokémon Legends: Z-A | Announced as appearing in the game, with a more muscular body and the signature move Flying Press. The page does not explicitly call the form a first-ever Mega Evolution. Official announcement. |
| Mega Malamar | Pokémon Legends: Z-A | Announced as appearing in the game; the page highlights its enlarged brain, glowing body, and psychic attacks. It does not explicitly describe the form as a first-ever Mega Evolution. Official announcement. |
| Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja | Pokémon Legends: Z-A | Announced together as new Mega Evolutions. Their Mega Stones are tied to online Ranked Battle promotions. Official announcement. |
| Mega Raichu X and Mega Raichu Y | Mega Dimension DLC | The DLC page calls both newly discovered forms; each uses a different Mega Stone. Official DLC page. |
| Mega Chimecho, Mega Baxcalibur, Mega Zeraora, Mega Lucario Z, and Mega Garchomp Z | Mega Dimension DLC | Named as forms players can meet in the DLC. The retrieved page does not establish that each is a first-ever Mega Evolution or explain how to obtain each one. Official DLC page. |
| Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y | Pokémon Legends: Z-A | Both returning franchise forms are available through a Mystery Gift and an additional Mewtwo side mission, according to the official announcement dated December 2, 2025. Official announcement. |
Which forms are new, and which are returning?
The official starter announcement calls Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja new Mega Evolutions. The Mega Dimension page expressly calls Mega Raichu X and Y newly discovered forms. Mega Victreebel is described as newly discovered and making its debut in Z-A. By contrast, Mega Mewtwo X and Y are returning designs from the franchise, even though the game has a specific route to encounter Mewtwo and obtain their stones.
For Mega Hawlucha, Mega Malamar, and the other named Mega Dimension forms, the cited pages confirm their appearance or inclusion in this game but do not explicitly establish a broader “first-ever” status. The official Mega Evolution gallery also displays older forms—including Mega Charizard X and Y, Mega Kangaskhan, Mega Ampharos, Mega Gardevoir, Mega Sableye, Mega Altaria, Mega Absol, and Mega Lucario—so a form shown in the game should not automatically be counted as newly created for it. How to get the Mega Stones for the announced forms
Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja
The official announcement originally tied Greninjite, Delphoxite, and Chesnaughtite to online Ranked Battle promotion rewards: Greninjite for Season 1, Delphoxite for Season 2, and Chesnaughtite for Season 3. It said these stones were not normally obtainable through regular gameplay and were planned for redistribution in later seasons. Those season details may no longer describe current access; check the game’s current in-game news before relying on them. Online features require Nintendo Switch Online membership and a Nintendo Account. Read the announcement.
Mewtwo
The December 2, 2025 announcement describes claiming Mewtwonite X and Mewtwonite Y through Mystery Gift, then completing an extra side mission to add Mewtwo. The mission requires completing the main story first. The gift requires an internet connection and a linked Nintendo Account; the announcement does not guarantee that its distribution remains available now, so check the in-game Mystery Gift information. Mega Dimension forms
The official page presents Mega Dimension as additional story content set after the main story and names the DLC forms listed above. It does not state an individual acquisition method for each one in the retrieved text. Check the official DLC page.
How Mega Evolution works in Z-A
According to the official Mega Evolution overview, a Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with a Mega Stone held by a Pokémon, temporarily unleashing hidden energy. The process changes the Pokémon’s appearance, and some Pokémon may change types. The official overview puts it this way: “When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.”

Is this a complete list of every new Mega Pokémon?
No. It is a confirmed list of forms named in the official pages cited above, not a definitive count of every reveal. The retrieved text for the official Mega Evolution gallery exposes only its first carousel panel, and the reviewed announcements do not provide one complete roster. Use the list as a reliable guide to these named forms, not as proof that no other forms have been announced.
