Which July release was a Switch 2 exclusive?
Donkey Kong Bananza
Donkey Kong Bananza was listed for July 17, 2025, exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo describes it as an all-new 3D platforming adventure starring Donkey Kong and Pauline in an underground world where smashing and interacting with terrain are central to the action. Nintendo’s announcement confirms solo play or co-op with a friend. The later corporate presentation also records the game as released on July 17 as Switch 2 exclusive software.
Official details: Nintendo’s US July roundup, Nintendo of America’s June 18, 2025 announcement, and Nintendo’s August 2025 corporate presentation.

What should original Switch owners know?
Several entries in the July lists were for both console generations, including Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4, Shadow Labyrinth and No Sleep For Kaname Date. Other games were listed for Switch 2 only, such as Donkey Kong Bananza and WILD HEARTS S. Check the platform column before buying: a game’s appearance in a Switch 2 release roundup does not by itself mean it requires the new console.
Shadow Labyrinth’s listed version difference
Nintendo says the Switch 2 version of Shadow Labyrinth has upgraded resolution and frame rate compared with the Switch version, without a content difference. The official roundup does not provide specific resolution or frame-rate figures.

Why do Nintendo’s US and UK July lists differ?
The regional roundups include different selections and platform details. Nintendo US lists The Wandering Village for July 17, Monument Valley 3 for July 22 and WWE 2K25 Standard Edition for Switch 2 on July 23. Nintendo UK lists Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game for original Switch on July 29. These are region-specific roundups, not proof that every listed game launched everywhere on the same date or a complete global release calendar.
Nintendo’s May 2025 corporate schedule likewise records July dates for Donkey Kong Bananza and the Jamboree edition, while warning that dates may change or differ by region: Nintendo corporate schedule (May 2025).
