That makes it possible to finish a chapter’s route later rather than restart a full run.
What counts as a collectible?
PowerPyx groups the guide’s pickups and completion objectives into six categories. Some are physical items along a route; others are challenges, missions, or unlockable abilities.

- Gourdies: collectible items found along chapter routes.
- Purgatory Gates: combat challenges.
- Health Upgrades: upgrades to Yakumo’s health.
- Missions: optional objectives, including chapter-specific and general missions.
- Accessories: equipment pickups.
- Combat Skills: abilities to unlock.
Use the chapter-by-chapter route in PowerPyx’s Ninja Gaiden 4 All Collectibles Guide to locate individual entries. The routes distinguish story-path items from detours, including pickups hidden behind containers or along side paths and routes that require traversal techniques such as Caddis Wire or flying-bird flips. Check the route’s landmark before turning off the main path so you do not mistake an optional pickup for a required story objective.

Follow the chapter route and check side paths
Work through the chapter instructions in order. When a route points out a container, branching path, or traversal opportunity, treat it as a deliberate detour: inspect the area before advancing along the story path. Some entries are not directly beside the route and may require using the movement technique described for that location.

Secure progress at a checkpoint
PowerPyx reports that collectible progress is saved to your profile after reaching a checkpoint. If you collect an item and are concerned about keeping that progress, reach the next checkpoint before leaving the chapter.
Can you get collectibles you missed?
Yes. According to PowerPyx, collectibles are not permanently missable: chapter selection in New Game+ lets you replay chapters and pick up items you left behind. Use that option for cleanup rather than trying to make every first-run route perfect.

How many missions are there?
PowerPyx’s mission guide, published October 25, 2025, lists 55 missions: 34 chapter-specific missions and 21 general missions. Completing all of them unlocks the Work Horse trophy and achievement. The guide separates New Game+ missions from first-run objectives and gives an alternative chapter for at least one mission, so consult its entry if a mission is not available on your current run.
For the full objective list and mission details, see PowerPyx’s Ninja Gaiden 4 All Missions Guide. Missions are completion objectives, not necessarily physical collectibles, so track them separately from the six collectible categories.

Which difficulty should you use?
PowerPyx recommends the easiest difficulty for collectible gathering. The guide cautions against using the highest difficulty for missions with strong mini-bosses or groups of enemies. This is the guide’s advice, not a claim based on independent testing.
Team NINJA’s official Ninja Gaiden 4 page describes Yakumo as the new protagonist and notes that the game has adjustable difficulty settings. Pick a setting that lets you focus on route checks and optional fights, then change it if the combat challenge is slowing down your cleanup.
