What is Ninja Gaiden 4 about?
The story follows Yakumo, a young ninja in a near-future Tokyo beset by miasma rain after an ancient enemy’s resurrection. Ryu Hayabusa, the series’ returning veteran, is also part of the story. How does its combat differ?
Official descriptions emphasize fast, precise action and customization. Yakumo can use Bloodbind Ninjutsu to transform weapons, while returning techniques include the Izuna Drop and Flying Swallow. The game also offers ways to customize the player experience; the official descriptions do not specify that every difficulty or assistance option works the same way.
In an Xbox Wire interview published January 23, 2025, producer and director Yuji Nakao described the design approach: “Adversity is a key concept for this game.” He also said rail- and wire-based movement was added to maintain tension, and that enemies would be aggressive and defensive without putting players at an unfair disadvantage. These were development comments made during the announcement period, not new statements about the finished game.

Xbox lists a Standard Edition, a Deluxe Edition, and a Deluxe Upgrade. The Deluxe Edition includes the base game and listed bonuses; the Deluxe Upgrade does not include the base game, so it is intended for someone who already owns it. What was announced in January 2025?
Xbox revealed Ninja Gaiden 4 during Developer_Direct on January 23, 2025, as a new mainline entry co-developed by Team NINJA and PlatinumGames. At the time, the release window was fall 2025; the October 21 date came later. In the original interview, Team NINJA head Fumihiko Yasuda called the project an action game and said the team was considering opportunities for players to try it.
