Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, scheduled for November 5, 2026. Its Australian feature page groups the updates under five headings: presentation and performance, movement and controls, a more immersive Hyrule, Threads of Time, and playing ocarina tunes. Nintendo does not present them as a numbered “five changes” list; the five headings are the basis for that count.
1. Overhauled presentation and smoother performance
Nintendo says the remake has completely overhauled materials and textures. Actions are designed to feel snappier, loading is faster, and the game runs more smoothly. Sounds have been refreshed, and the score includes symphonic orchestral music. Nintendo has not provided a full technical comparison with the Nintendo 64 original or the Nintendo 3DS version, so these announcements do not establish specific resolution or frame-rate figures.

2. New movement and camera controls
New button commands let Link jump and run freely, while the right stick provides improved camera control. Nintendo’s US listing also describes jumping and dashing with enhanced controls and modern camera movements. The announcement does not give a complete control map, so exact button assignments are not yet established.
3. A more immersive Hyrule
Characters will be fully voiced in expanded cutscenes and have more dialogue. Nintendo also says locations have been remodeled with additional details and support free camera movement. The day/night cycle will continue in towns as well as elsewhere in the world.

4. Threads of Time adds a progress view
Threads of Time is an in-game story-progress aid: players can check their progress and next objective at any point. A large tapestry gradually fills in as the adventure advances. Nintendo has not described additional customization or tracking options for the feature.
5. Hum a tune to play the ocarina
When Link has learned a melody, players can hum it within range of the Switch 2’s built-in microphone to make him play it on his ocarina. Nintendo also says future playable and electric ocarinas will work with the game, but has not supplied full specifications or release dates for those instruments.

What Nintendo has and has not established
The announcement confirms a new Switch 2 release and outlines changes to controls, presentation, world details, progress tracking, and ocarina interaction.
