As of March 24, 2025, Nintendo had not announced a Switch 1 presentation for that week. Online posters and commentators were speculating about one last Switch Direct ahead of the Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, but the event’s timing, format and content were unconfirmed.
What was being reported on March 24, 2025?
Jacob Siegal’s BGR report, published March 24, described chatter about an unannounced presentation for that week. It traced the speculation to a Chinese forum post and its amplification by Famiboards user ninspider, VGC editor Andy Robinson, Nate the Hate and journalist PH Brazil. None of those reports or posts was an official Nintendo announcement. BGR’s report said Nate the Hate had heard the Direct was coming “on/around Thursday.”

That wording was an attributed rumor, not a confirmed date. BGR did not report an announced start time or say Nintendo had formally scheduled a Switch 1 event.
What kind of presentation might it have been?
The report said the subject matter was unknown and floated three possible formats. It did not establish which, if any, Nintendo intended to hold.

- Indie World: another possibility mentioned in the report, with no confirmed games or schedule.
How did it relate to the Switch 2 Direct?
BGR reported that the Switch 2 Direct was scheduled for April 2, 2025, at 6 a.m. PT / 9 a.m. ET. That was the schedule stated in the March 24 report; it is not evidence that a separate Switch 1 presentation had been confirmed. The suggestion that a Switch 1 event might come first was speculation about timing, not a Nintendo announcement.
Did the rumored Switch 1 presentation happen?
The March 24 report does not establish whether Nintendo ultimately held a Switch 1 presentation during that week or what it might have included. It therefore cannot support a definitive retrospective claim that this was the console’s final presentation. “One final” was the headline’s framing of the rumor, not a declaration by Nintendo.

- Three play modes: TV, tabletop, and handheld
- Local co-op, online, and local wireless multiplayer
- Detachable Joy-Con controllers
- Nintendo Switch is the home of Mario & friends
The report also noted that developers would continue releasing games for Switch and that some owners might wait months or years before upgrading. That context helps explain the interest in a possible Switch 1 showcase, but it does not confirm that one was planned.
