CBS Sports’ “Nintendo Player Select: Angel Reese Sets Records” spotlights Reese for breaking the WNBA single-season double-double record. Her 2026 campaign also set league rebounding marks, including a 26-rebound game and the first 500-rebound regular season in WNBA history. “Nintendo Player Select” is the feature’s segment name; the available listing does not establish a connection to a Nintendo game or product. Why Angel Reese was selected
The CBS Sports feature frames Reese’s selection around her single-season double-double record. A double-double means reaching at least 10 in two statistical categories in one game; for Reese, the record-setting category combination was points and rebounds. The listing identifies the feature, while the Atlanta Dream’s dated releases provide the record details.

How the rebounding records fit together
Three figures describe different things: 26 is a single-game total; 451 was the previous single-season record; and 500 was a season milestone Reese later reached. They are not competing versions of the same statistic.
| Milestone | What it means | Reported context |
|---|---|---|
| 26 rebounds | WNBA single-game record | Reese set the mark on August 24, 2026, according to the Dream’s September 1 release. |
| 451 rebounds | Previous WNBA single-season record | Reese surpassed this season mark in the same August 24 game, as reported in the September 1 release. |
| 29 double-doubles | WNBA single-season record at the time reported | The Dream’s September 1 release said Reese had set the new mark. |
| 500 rebounds | First player in WNBA history to reach 500 in a season | The Dream reported the milestone in its September 25 release, during the final week of the 2026 regular season. |
| 12.3 rebounds per game | League-leading regular-season average | The Dream reported this final-season average in its September 25 release. |
More records from Reese’s 2026 run
The rebounding and double-double milestones were part of a broader record-setting stretch. The Dream reported that Reese set the league single-season offensive-rebound record. In a separate game, she made all nine of her field-goal attempts, a Dream franchise record for most made shots without a miss, and scored a career-high 31 points. These are distinct achievements: the 9-for-9 mark is a team record for one game, while the offensive-rebound record is a league season record. Atlanta Dream, August 25, 2026

What the feature title does—and does not—mean
“Nintendo Player Select” is the name used in the CBS Sports feature title. The cited listing does not show that Reese’s selection is tied to a Nintendo game, roster, or product, so the phrase should be understood as segment branding rather than a gaming announcement. The sports story is Reese’s record-setting WNBA season.
