Yes—some Nintendo Switch 2 games listed in Canada cost more than CAD $100, but that is not the price of every game. No. Nintendo Canada’s digital storefront shows a range of prices. For example, it listed Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition at CAD $99.99 and Yoshi and the Mysterious Book at CAD $84.99, alongside titles priced below those amounts. The examples make clear that CAD $100-plus listings exist, not that every Switch 2 game reaches that price. Check Nintendo Canada’s Switch 2 digital storefront for current digital prices.

Can the physical and digital versions have different prices?
Yes, for a defined group of releases. Nintendo Support says that beginning in May 2026, new Nintendo-published digital titles exclusive to Switch 2 have an MSRP different from their physical versions. Nintendo says production and distribution costs for each format inform that difference. This policy statement is specific to those Nintendo-published digital-exclusive titles; it should not be assumed to apply to every game, publisher or release. Details are in Nintendo Support’s pricing guidance.
When comparing prices, make sure you are looking at the same game and edition, and note whether it is physical or digital. A special edition or bundle is not a like-for-like comparison with a standard edition.

Why does Nintendo say game prices vary?
In a May 2025 financial-results Q&A, Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa said pricing considers regional factors as well as rising costs, including larger game files and longer development periods. He said Nintendo would continue to consider an appropriate price for each title. That is Nintendo’s stated approach, not a rule that every game must cost CAD $100 or more. The Nintendo Financial Results Briefing for the Fiscal Year Ended March 2025 contains his comments.
Nintendo has not set out a single fixed USD-to-CAD conversion rule in that briefing. A Canadian price should therefore be checked in Canadian storefronts or retailer listings rather than inferred by converting a US price.

Is this related to the Switch 2 console price increase?
No. Nintendo announced that the Canadian MSRP for the Switch 2 system would rise from CAD $629.99 to CAD $679.99 effective September 1, 2026. That announcement is about the console, not a game-price increase. See Nintendo’s notice of price adjustments for the US and Canada.
