What was the Joy-Con 2 leak?
On January 5, 2025, a SwitchForce video titled “Official Nintendo Switch 2 Joy Con LEAK! Retail Joy Cons Revealed!” described purported images as showing retail Joy-Con. That establishes that a leak claim circulated; it does not establish that the images were genuine or that Nintendo confirmed their source. Watch the SwitchForce video.

What did Nintendo confirm about Joy-Con 2?
Magnetic attachment
Nintendo says Joy-Con 2 attaches to Switch 2 magnetically, with a “snap.” This is a documented change in how the controllers connect to the console; it does not, by itself, establish claims about durability or ease of repair. Nintendo’s announcement.

Mouse controls
Either Joy-Con 2 can be used as a mouse, and Nintendo says both controllers can be used for mouse controls simultaneously. The mouse feature is for compatible software; it is not a claim that every game supports mouse input. Nintendo’s announcement and Nintendo’s feature page.

C Button and other named features
The right Joy-Con 2 has a C Button that starts GameChat. Nintendo’s accessories page also lists motion controls and HD rumble 2 among the controller’s features. Nintendo’s announcement and Nintendo’s accessories page.
