What the Switch 2 theme leak actually showed
A May 28, 2025 Notebookcheck report described unboxing footage showing Basic Light Mode and Basic Dark Mode in the Themes menu. The report’s suggestion that more customization might arrive later was speculation, including a prediction from a Switch 2 Stock Alerts X account about a launch update and possible Nintendo Switch Online or Platinum Points options. It was not a Nintendo announcement. Read the Notebookcheck report.
Will Nintendo Switch 2 get more themes?
Nintendo has not confirmed additional Switch 2 theme options in the sources checked as of October 8, 2026. Nintendo’s update history lists version 23.0.1, released October 1, 2026, as the latest update; its entry describes a fix for a software start, pause, or close delay issue from version 23.0.0 and does not announce new themes. That absence is not proof that Nintendo will never add them, but there is no confirmed theme expansion to report. Nintendo Australia’s Switch 2 system update history.
