BGR reported that the YouTube upload was removed and the clip later mirrored on social media. The short footage did not establish that the console was authentic or show it working.
What the early Switch 2 unboxing video showed
In a report published May 27, 2025, BGR described an eight-second clip showing what appeared to be a Switch 2 in shrink-wrapped retail packaging beside two Joy-Con 2 controllers. BGR called it the first view of the console in retail packaging from any source at the time. That description was the outlet’s reporting; Nintendo did not confirm the clip in the cited announcement.

BGR said the YouTube video had been removed and that the footage was subsequently mirrored on social media. The report did not identify the original YouTube uploader, authenticate an original file, or establish that any surviving mirror was authorized. Read BGR’s May 27, 2025 report.
Did the footage show a working console?
No working demonstration was reported. BGR said the uploader reportedly told a commenter that the console needed an update to function. That is secondhand reporting, not an official Nintendo statement, and the short clip itself was described as showing packaging and controllers.

How the video fit the Switch 2 launch
Nintendo had announced that Switch 2 would launch on June 5, 2025, making the reported video an early pre-release appearance rather than a current leak. Nintendo’s April 2 announcement gave the official product context: a 7.9-inch LCD touchscreen with 1920×1080 resolution, HDR10 support and variable refresh rates up to 120 Hz; 256 GB of system storage; Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth; and support for compatible microSD Express cards sold separately. Those specifications were not all visible in the reported clip.

What later bundle announcements do—and do not—change
Switch 2 is now a released product. Later bundle notices illustrate that offers depend on market and date, but do not alter what the May 2025 clip reportedly showed. Nintendo announced a Japan-only Japanese-language system bundle for November 12, 2026, at a tax-inclusive suggested retail price of 63,980 yen. Nintendo UK separately announced seasonal bundles, including a Switch 2 plus Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle scheduled for October 22, 2026. These are distinct regional offers, not a single worldwide bundle or price.
