Which Nintendo Switch games have upgrade packs for Nintendo Switch 2? Nintendo’s UK catalogue listed nine first-party Switch 2 Editions when checked on 8 October 2026, from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild to Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Third-party games also have editions and upgrade packs, but there is no single region-neutral official list establishing every available title. Use the regional scope and links below to check what is actually available where you buy games.
What counts as a Switch 2 upgrade pack?
A Switch 2 Edition bundles a Nintendo Switch game with an upgrade pack. If you own the original game, you may be able to get the pack separately; you can also buy an edition that includes both. Packs exist only for selected games. A title running on Switch 2 through backward compatibility, or receiving a performance update, does not by itself mean it has an upgrade pack. Nintendo says pack contents vary by game and can include visual improvements, features, or additional modes; the Switch 2 Edition enhancements require a Nintendo Switch 2. The following nine titles appeared in Nintendo UK’s Switch 2 Edition catalogue when checked on 8 October 2026. Dates are the UK release dates shown by Nintendo, not a claim of worldwide release timing or availability. The catalogue may change, and other regional stores can differ. Enhancement details below come from Nintendo UK; where noted, technical details are from Nintendo US.

Third-party games and the limits of an “all games” list
The nine entries above are Nintendo’s first-party titles on its UK catalogue, not every game with a Switch 2 upgrade path. For a broader third-party-inclusive discovery list, Nintendo Life maintains an alphabetical guide to Switch 2 Edition games, upgrade packs, and free performance updates. Its entries include examples such as DAVE THE DIVER, Hades II, Hollow Knight, Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, and Another Crab’s Treasure. That guide is editorial rather than an official register, includes future-dated announcements, and does not establish availability in every country. Check each game’s release status and listing in your own eShop before treating it as currently obtainable.

Nintendo US labels its Switch 2 Edition page “Featured,” not a complete catalogue. Consequently, with no buying region specified, an article cannot responsibly certify a worldwide exhaustive count. Check Nintendo’s US page or the equivalent Nintendo store for your region alongside the broader guide. Keep free performance updates separate: they may improve a Switch game on Switch 2 without being a paid upgrade pack or a Switch 2 Edition.

- Confirm that the game has a pack in your region. Check the game’s local eShop or Nintendo Store listing; the original Switch game alone does not establish that a pack exists.
- Own the matching Switch game. Nintendo says the original can be a physical cartridge or a digital copy. Buying only the pack requires ownership of that game.
- Get the pack. Nintendo lists Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, and retailer digital codes as routes. Redeem a retailer code in Nintendo eShop. If you qualify through Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, Nintendo directs members to find the pack in the Nintendo Switch Online menu in eShop.
- Use the enhanced edition on Switch 2. The original Switch game remains playable on Nintendo Switch, but Switch 2 Edition features and content require Nintendo Switch 2.
Which packs are included with Expansion Pack membership?
Nintendo’s US membership page identifies exactly two Switch 2 Edition upgrade packs as included at no additional cost for eligible active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. You must own the corresponding base game, and the membership must be active. See Nintendo’s Expansion Pack page for the stated inclusion. This does not mean all Switch 2 upgrade packs are included in the membership.

What to compare before choosing an edition
- Technical changes: Look for resolution, frame rate, loading, and whether a figure depends on a compatible display or a particular mode.
- Added content: Check whether the pack adds a story, minigames, challenges, or other playable material rather than only performance improvements.
- New hardware features: Mouse controls, microphone functions, cameras, HDR, and companion-app features have title-specific requirements. A camera is needed only for features that specify one, not for every upgrade pack.
- Multiplayer and sharing: Confirm whether an edition changes local or online play, and whether a feature such as GameShare applies.
- Purchase and ownership: A Switch 2 Edition bundle includes the game and pack; a standalone pack is for owners of the matching Switch game. Check the local store for current price and availability, which vary by region and can change.
