Nintendo’s US Nintendo Switch bundle includes a full download of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership. The game is included with the hardware purchase, rather than being a separate product given away for free. Nintendo describes the game and membership together as a $79.98 bonus value; that is Nintendo’s stated value, not an independently verified savings comparison.
What comes in Nintendo’s US bundle?
Nintendo’s US product listing describes a standard Nintendo Switch with Neon Red and Neon Blue Joy-Con controllers. The package includes:
- Nintendo Switch console and dock
- One pair of Joy-Con controllers and wrist straps
- Joy-Con grip
- HDMI cable and AC adapter
- A full digital download of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- A redemption code for a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online Individual Membership
The game is a download, not a physical game card. Nintendo’s product page lists the game and membership as a $79.98 bonus value, with no year stated on the page. That figure should not be read as a current price comparison or guaranteed savings. See Nintendo’s US bundle listing.
Can you play multiplayer with what’s in the box?
Same-system local play
The included Joy-Con pair can be shared for local play on one system. Nintendo’s bundle listing says additional controllers are sold separately if you want up to four players on that system. Same-system local play does not require the bundle’s Nintendo Switch Online membership.

Local wireless play
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe also supports local wireless multiplayer for up to eight players, according to Nintendo’s game page. This is a separate play mode from sharing one console: players use separate systems connected locally. See Nintendo’s game information for the mode details.
Online play
Online play requires a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. Nintendo says online races can match up to 12 friends; that is distinct from local wireless play’s eight-player limit. The bundle includes an Individual Membership for 12 months, but online access after that period depends on having an active membership. Nintendo’s multiplayer setup guide explains how to start local or online games.
