Nintendo added three Sega Genesis games to the Nintendo Switch Online library on April 10, 2025: Streets of Rage, ESWAT: City Under Siege, and Super Thunder Blade. Nintendo said they were playable immediately, but access requires a Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership—not the base Nintendo Switch Online tier alone.
Which Sega games were added?
- Streets of Rage — the original game, not Streets of Rage 2.
- ESWAT: City Under Siege.
- Super Thunder Blade.
Nintendo of America announced the three titles on April 10, 2025, and said eligible members could play them “right now.” The current U.S. SEGA Genesis library page lists all three games.

What membership do you need?
The Genesis collection is included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. A base Nintendo Switch Online membership by itself does not provide access to the Genesis library. Nintendo’s Nintendo Classics information describes access as tied to an active eligible membership.
Can you play offline?
Yes. Eligible members can play the classic-game libraries offline, but the console must connect to the internet at least once every seven consecutive days so Nintendo can verify the membership. If the qualifying membership is inactive, access to the library is unavailable.

Do you need a Genesis-style controller?
No. Nintendo lists a full-size SEGA Genesis Control Pad as an optional accessory; it is not required to play the games. Nintendo’s U.S. product listing says the controller offer requires any paid Nintendo Switch Online membership and ships to the U.S. and Canada. Check the listing for current availability and terms.
When will Nintendo add more games?
Nintendo says the collections will continue to grow, but it has not set a release schedule for new additions. The three games announced in April 2025 are part of the current U.S. Genesis catalog; the announcement should not be read as a new 2026 update.
