Nintendo reported 156.59 million lifetime Nintendo Switch hardware units worldwide through June 30, 2026. The figure is for the original Nintendo Switch platform, not Switch 2, which Nintendo reports separately at 23.68 million units.

How many Nintendo Switch consoles has Nintendo sold?

Nintendo’s official sales table lists 156.59 million Switch hardware units worldwide on a life-to-date basis as of June 30, 2026. Nintendo describes these as worldwide consolidated sales units; this is Nintendo’s reported figure, not a third-party estimate or a retail sell-through measure. Nintendo’s lifetime hardware and software sales table provides the current total.

Is Switch 2 included in that total?

No. Nintendo reports the two platforms separately. As of June 30, 2026, the same table lists 23.68 million Switch 2 hardware units alongside the original Switch’s 156.59 million. Nintendo launched Switch 2 on June 5, 2025, and says Switch software can be played on Switch 2; software compatibility does not combine their hardware totals. Nintendo’s sales table and Nintendo’s nine-month results document give the figures and platform context.

How did Switch sales change in Nintendo’s latest fiscal year?

For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, Nintendo reported 3.80 million Switch hardware units sold on a sell-in basis, down 64.8% year over year. Nintendo defines sell-in as sales by the Nintendo group to outside entities; it includes sales to corporate business partners and, where applicable, direct sales to individuals. This annual fiscal-year figure is distinct from the later cumulative lifetime total: Switch stood at 155.41 million at March 31, then reached 156.59 million by June 30. Nintendo’s FY2026 sales-status presentation reports the annual figure and defines sell-in.

Has Switch outsold the Nintendo DS?

Yes, in Nintendo’s current reported hardware totals. The company’s table lists Switch at 156.59 million units and Nintendo DS at 154.02 million, both through June 30, 2026. That supports the comparison within Nintendo’s own portfolio; it does not establish an all-company ranking of every console ever sold. Nintendo’s sales table lists both platforms.

How much Switch software has sold?

Nintendo reports 1,561.95 million lifetime Switch software units worldwide through June 30, 2026. That is a platform-wide software total, not a count of distinct games or players. Nintendo’s reporting also allows for software to continue selling on the Switch platform after Switch 2 launched, since Switch software is playable on the newer system; the software and hardware totals remain separate. Nintendo’s lifetime sales table reports the software figure.
