A guide updated for version 1.04 says it becomes available after you defeat the final boss and see the ending, from the Region Select screen. It reports that much of your character and equipment carry over while story and mission completion reset. The official manual explains a separate but important NG+ combat risk: Crucible Weapons can deal massive damage, but enemy hits cause Life Corrosion.
How do you unlock Shogun’s Journey?
According to the Nioh3.net guide, Shogun’s Journey unlocks after the final boss and ending. Select it from the Region Select screen. The guide identifies its information as version 1.04 and was last updated February 25, 2026, so treat its progression details as version-qualified rather than a guarantee about every later build. Nioh 3 launched on February 6, 2026 for PS5 and Windows PC via Steam, according to KOEI TECMO America. The publisher describes its combat as allowing players to switch between Samurai and Ninja styles; that is broad combat context, not a special Shogun’s Journey rule.
What carries over to NG+?
The version 1.04 guide reports that much of the first-run character state and equipment carries into Shogun’s Journey, while story and mission completion reset. This is guide-reported information; the official manual cited here does not provide a carryover list.

What is Divine gear in Nioh 3?
The version 1.04 guide identifies Divine as the rarity tier associated with Shogun’s Journey. Its existence is useful to know when planning NG+, but precise stat advantages, caps, drop rates, and farming locations are not established by the official manual source here and should not be treated as current verified mechanics.

How do Crucibles work?
The official Nioh 3 web manual describes the Crucible as “a domain in which yokai hold the advantage.” It distinguishes full Crucibles from Lesser Crucibles:
- Full Crucible: Defeat the innermost boss, then destroy the energy-source spike to cleanse it.
- Lesser Crucible: Fight through enemy waves and destroy its spikes to cleanse it. The manual says a cleansed Lesser Crucible does not reappear when you pray at a shrine.
Bodhisattva Statues serve as Crucible shrines, and fast travel is restricted to their vicinity. Destroying Crucible-influenced spikes increases maximum Spirit Force and improves Guardian Spirit Attack and related effects. In Lesser Crucibles, spike destruction may also increase floating Amrita and unlock new Spirit Veins.

What do Crucible Weapons do, and what is the trade-off?
The manual calls these “Special weapons that can be obtained in the Crucible.” Their defining trade-off is high damage in exchange for Life Corrosion when an enemy damages you. Life Corrosion reduces maximum Life; some depleted maximum Life can be restored by defeating enemies, inflicting damage, or recovering graves. Jizo Blessings can lessen the effect.
At maximum familiarity, a Crucible Weapon unlocks its Crucible Art for free assignment. That gives players a way to use the weapon’s special art without spending a normal assignment slot. The supported comparison is the weapon’s damage-versus-survivability trade-off; the available sources do not establish a reliable ranking of weapon models or a current best-in-slot pick.

How should you approach a Crucible with a Crucible Weapon?
- Expect incoming hits to matter. Life Corrosion reduces maximum Life when an enemy damages you, so a high-damage weapon is not a substitute for avoiding attacks.
- Use recovery opportunities. The manual says some lost maximum Life can return through defeating enemies, dealing damage, or recovering graves; Jizo Blessings reduce Life Corrosion.
- Clear the Crucible’s objective. In a full Crucible, defeat the innermost boss and destroy the energy-source spike. In a Lesser Crucible, survive the waves and destroy the spikes.
- Make use of the Crucible environment. Bodhisattva Statues are the area’s shrines, and spike destruction can improve Spirit Force and Guardian Spirit effects.
How much harder is Shogun’s Journey?
The version 1.04 guide reports harder enemies in Shogun’s Journey, but the sources available here do not establish a current official difficulty multiplier or a precise scaling formula. Treat the mode as a tougher repeat run, not as a mode with a verified numeric increase. The same caution applies to detailed level caps, Divine gear properties, and farm routes: they are not confirmed by the official manual cited here.
