Outdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchPC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11nlsdata0027.dll is a genuine Microsoft component associated with Windows natural-language services, SQL Server Full-Text Search, and some SharePoint packages. If Windows says nlsdata0027.dll is missing, not found, corrupt, or not designed to run on Windows, repair the component or application that owns the file rather than downloading a replacement DLL.
Identify the file before repairing it
The filename alone does not identify the correct copy. Check the exact error, executable, and path first.

- Reproduce the error and write down the program named in the message.
- Record the full path if Windows displays one.
- Check whether the path points to:
C:WindowsSystem32C:WindowsSysWOW64- a WinSxS component folder
- a SQL Server instance folder such as
MSSQLBinn - SharePoint
- the affected application’s installation directory
- Right-click any remaining copy of the file, select Properties, and open Digital Signatures.
- Confirm that the signer is Microsoft Corporation and inspect the signature details.
A valid Microsoft signature supports the file’s identity, but it does not prove that every copy with this filename is safe. A copy in an unexpected application folder, with no valid signature, should be scanned before it is restored.

Do not assume that a file copied from Windows Vista, Windows 7, SQL Server, or SharePoint belongs in Windows 10 or Windows 11. Microsoft does not clearly document this file in current public Windows 10 and Windows 11 file inventories.
What nlsdata0027.dll does
The file is described as Microsoft Neutral Natural Language Server Data and Code. Its data supports natural-language processing, including language data used by SQL Server Full-Text Search.
Microsoft lists NlsData0027.dll among Full-Text Search binaries and associates the 0027 language data with Lithuanian processing. SQL Server can maintain its own copy under an instance-specific directory, so a SQL Server copy and a Windows copy may be independently installed and serviced.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThat distinction matters. Windows repair tools may repair a protected Windows copy, but they do not automatically repair a damaged file inside a SQL Server or SharePoint installation.
Fix 1: Repair Windows components
Use this path when the error points to System32, SysWOW64, WinSxS, or a Windows executable.
Install pending Windows updates
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Select Check for updates.
- Install all available updates.
- Restart the computer, even if Windows does not immediately require it.
- Start the affected program again.
If the error remains, repair the component store and protected system files.
Run DISM and SFC
- Open Start.
- Type
Command Prompt. - Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator.
- Run this command:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
- Wait for DISM to finish. Do not close the window if progress appears to pause.
- Run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until the scan reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows and test the application again.
DISM repairs the Windows component store that SFC uses. SFC then checks protected system files and replaces damaged copies when a correct Windows-serviced version is available.
If SFC reports that it found and repaired corrupt files, restart and test the original program. If it reports that it could not repair everything, run DISM again, restart, and repeat the SFC scan. If DISM cannot find source files, use a matching Windows installation source with the /Source and /LimitAccess options described in Microsoft’s repair guidance.
Repeating SFC and DISM without recording what changed can make troubleshooting difficult. Outbyte PC Repair offers a free scan that shows the problems it identifies; repairs are performed by the full version, but it is optional and does not replace repairing the specific product that owns this DLL.
Use Windows recovery if repair still fails
On supported Windows 11 installations:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select System > Recovery.
- Find Fix problems using Windows Update.
- Select Reinstall now.
- Follow the prompts and keep the option to preserve apps, files, and settings.
If that option is unavailable, back up important data and use an in-place repair installation from official Windows installation media. Microsoft’s Windows recovery options explain which recovery method fits each situation.
Fix 2: Repair SQL Server Full-Text Search
Use this path when the error mentions SQL Server, a database service, search indexing, or a path resembling:
Microsoft SQL Server<instance>MSSQLBinn
Repair the SQL Server instance
- Locate the original SQL Server installation media or mounted installation image.
- Run
setup.exe. - Select Maintenance.
- Select Repair.
- Choose the affected SQL Server instance.
- Complete the repair wizard.
- Restart any affected SQL Server services if Setup requests it.
- Test the database operation that previously produced the error.
If Full-Text Search was never installed:
- Start SQL Server Setup.
- Choose New SQL Server stand-alone installation or the applicable feature-add option.
- Select the existing instance.
- Choose Full-Text and Semantic Extractions for Search.
- Complete Setup and restart the relevant services.
Do not copy a Windows version of nlsdata0027.dll into an SQL Server Binn directory. SQL Server binaries are versioned with the instance and may require matching dependencies.
SQL Server 2025 and later can remove legacy Full-Text Search version 1 binaries during some upgrade scenarios. If an upgrade exposed the error, follow Microsoft’s Full-Text Search version upgrade guidance instead of inserting an older DLL manually.

Fix 3: Repair SharePoint
Microsoft SharePoint 2010 packages also document this filename. Use this route if the error began after a SharePoint update, repair, or server migration.
- Log on with an account that can administer the SharePoint installation.
- Run SharePoint Setup or the relevant official update package.
- Choose the repair or maintenance option when available.
- Apply the update level intended for that SharePoint installation.
- Run the SharePoint configuration process if Setup requires it.
- Restart the affected services and test the SharePoint operation again.
Do not substitute a Windows or SQL Server copy. Use SharePoint’s own installer and Microsoft’s SharePoint repair procedure.
Fix 4: Repair the application that reports the error
If the path points into a particular program’s folder, Windows may be healthy and only that installation may be damaged.
- Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Locate the affected application.
- Select the three-dot menu beside it.
- Choose Advanced options, if available.
- Select Repair.
- Start the program and test it.
- If Repair does not work, return to the same screen and select Reset only if you understand that it may remove application data.
- If neither option exists, uninstall the application.
- Restart Windows.
- Download the current installer from the application’s official developer or publisher.
- Install it using an administrator account and test it before restoring custom files.
For an older program, install the version intended for its architecture. A 32-bit application may need its own 32-bit dependencies even when it runs on 64-bit Windows.
Fix 5: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software can remove a valid file, or it can correctly remove a malicious file that was using a familiar name.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review detections involving
nlsdata0027.dll. - Check the original path, detection name, and signer.
- Run a full scan before restoring anything.
Restore the file only when its original location, Microsoft signature, and product ownership are confirmed. If the file came from an application directory and the application is still supported, reinstall that application instead of restoring the quarantined copy. Microsoft’s Protection History guidance explains the available actions.
Fix 6: Check architecture and dependent modules
A 32-bit DLL cannot be used as a substitute for a 64-bit DLL, and a matching filename does not guarantee matching dependencies.
If the error says “The specified module could not be found,” the missing item may be a dependency rather than nlsdata0027.dll itself. The message can also appear when the DLL exists but cannot load because another required component is absent or incompatible.
Check these details:
- Is the failing executable 32-bit or 64-bit
- Is the DLL in the correct product directory
- Does the file have a valid Microsoft signature
- Did the error begin after an update, cleanup, uninstall, or failed installation
- Does the application require a specific SQL Server instance or SharePoint version
Do not install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET as a first response. There is no evidence that those runtimes are the normal owner of this file.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Fix 7: Investigate a driver or recent system change
A driver is not a primary explanation for this DLL, but investigate one if the error began immediately after a driver package or hardware utility was installed.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Right-click Start and select Device Manager.
- Expand the category related to the recently changed hardware.
- Right-click the device and select Properties.
- Open the Driver tab.
- Review the Driver Date and Driver Details.
- If the issue began after an update, select Roll Back Driver when available.
- Otherwise select Update Driver, then Search automatically for drivers.
- Prefer the hardware manufacturer’s official support page for a replacement driver.
- Restart Windows and retest the original application.
Manually checking dozens of driver versions is slow and can lead to an incompatible installation. Outbyte Driver Updater provides a free scan showing which drivers it identifies as outdated; installing updates requires the full version, and driver repair is not a substitute for reinstalling the application or SQL Server that owns this DLL.
If the problem started after a broader software change, press Win + R, enter:
rstrui.exe
Select a restore point from before the failure, review the affected programs, and complete System Restore only after confirming the restore point is appropriate.

What not to do
Do not download a random DLL
Unverified DLL repositories can provide malware, the wrong architecture, an incompatible build, or a file that does not match the product that needs it. A copied file may also bypass Windows servicing and create a second version conflict.

Do not copy files into System32
Do not place a file in System32 merely because an error mentions a DLL. Windows may need a protected component manifest, a matching catalog signature, related language data, or a different architecture.
Do not run regsvr32
regsvr32 registers self-registering COM and ActiveX DLLs. It is not a general-purpose DLL installation command, and there is no evidence that nlsdata0027.dll exports DllRegisterServer.
Running this command is therefore not a valid repair:

FAQ
Is nlsdata0027.dll legitimate?
Yes, it is a genuine Microsoft DLL when it is a correctly signed component of Windows, SQL Server, or a documented Microsoft product. Verify its path and digital signature before trusting it.
Is it part of Windows 10 or Windows 11?
Its presence in every Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation is not clearly documented. Treat a missing copy on modern Windows as a component or product-repair issue, not as proof that an old DLL should be copied into the system directory.
Is it part of SQL Server?
Yes. Microsoft lists it among SQL Server Full-Text Search binaries and associates it with Lithuanian language processing.
Why does Windows say “the specified module could not be found” when the file exists?
A required dependency may be missing, the file may be corrupt, or the copy may be the wrong architecture or build. Identify the executable and complete path before choosing a repair.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Should I install Visual C++, DirectX, or .NET?
Not as a first step. Those runtimes are not established owners of nlsdata0027.dll. Repair the Windows component, SQL Server, SharePoint installation, or application that reports the error.
Will DISM and SFC fix every instance?
No. They can repair protected Windows files, but they do not necessarily repair a copy stored inside SQL Server, SharePoint, or an application directory. Use the owning product’s installer for those copies.
What is the safest fix?
Identify the path and executable, verify the signature, install Windows updates, run DISM followed by SFC for a Windows copy, and repair SQL Server, SharePoint, or the affected application when that product owns the file.
