How No Man’s Sky’s launch date changed
In March 2016, Sean Murray announced a June 21 PS4 release date on the PlayStation Blog. In May, a follow-up announcement moved the release to August, with regional dates of August 9 in North America, August 10 in Europe, and August 12 in the UK. The delay announcement documents the schedule change; the date change alone does not substantiate every use of the phrase “rocky launch.”
What Hello Games committed to after launch
Hello Games said in its August 7, 2016 Update 1.03 post, “Hello Games will continually update No Man’s Sky this way. This is the first of many.” The studio also said, “We expect future updates like these to continue to be free.” Those statements establish the studio’s commitment at that time; they do not confirm that updates were packaged into a later iPhone edition.

On September 2, 2016, Hello Games described its focus as addressing problems players had with the game before moving on to future free updates. Its development update said the studio was concentrating “first on resolving any issues people have with the game as it is, then on future free updates which will improve, expand and build on the No Man’s Sky universe.” The current Hello Games press page characterizes the game as continuing to receive regular major updates, but that ongoing development history says nothing on its own about an iPhone port.

What to verify before treating the iPhone claim as fact
For a confirmed mobile edition, the details that matter are the official listing, supported devices and operating system, download size versus installed storage, how updates are delivered, and feature and control differences from console or computer editions. Until an official listing or announcement establishes those iPhone-specific facts, neither “on iPhone” nor “under 5GB” should be presented as confirmed.
