Are both versions still supported?
Yes. Hello Games’ official release log lists patch 6.36 for PC and PS4. That confirms both platforms appear in the current patch listing; it does not establish identical performance or guarantee that every feature is in parity.

What PC hardware does the game require?
Hello Games’ minimum-specifications support page, updated October 31, 2022, lists Windows 10/11 64-bit, an Intel Core i3, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1060 3GB, RX 470 4GB, or Intel UHD Graphics 630, and 15 GB of available storage. These are the page’s stated minimums, not a guarantee of a particular performance level. Because the requirements page is several years old, check the current store listing before buying.
Hello Games’ PC graphics documentation describes options such as resolution and V-sync, while its Beyond update documentation covers remappable PC controls. Those options let you tune a setup; they do not prove that an unspecified PC will run better than PS4.

Can PC and PS4 players play together?
The Steam listing says No Man’s Sky supports cross-play across PC and PS4, among other platforms. For a session together, make sure both installations are on compatible current versions and check the current platform setup. The listing advertises the feature, but it is not a guarantee that every version combination will connect.
Can you move a PS4 save to PC?
Hello Games’ cross-save page describes progress sharing across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and Mac. It also says PS4-to-PS5 transfer is supported under one PSN account and that cross-platform storage allows up to five saves. Follow the page’s current account and upload instructions, and verify compatibility before planning a transfer; the five-save figure refers to cross-platform storage, not a claim about all local save slots.

What about VR?
VR is a meaningful distinction only if you intend to play that way. The Beyond update documentation describes PC VR controls for Oculus Touch, Valve Index, or Vive Wand, and PSVR on PS4 with DualShock 4 or PlayStation Move controllers. These are the controller configurations documented in that update; check current setup compatibility for your hardware before purchase.

Hello Games’ Next Generation update describes higher-detail environmental improvements for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC players on Ultra settings. Those statements do not establish that base PS4 receives the same enhancements, so they should not be used to predict PS4 image quality.

Which version should you choose?
- Choose PS4 if you already own the console, want a fixed hardware target, or specifically want the documented PSVR route on that system.
- Choose PC if you have suitable hardware and want to adjust graphics, remap controls, choose between keyboard/mouse and controller, or consider PC VR.
- Choose based on where your friends play if playing together matters, then confirm current version compatibility and cross-play setup.
- Do not buy either version solely for a promised performance edge. The available official sources do not settle which performs better in a direct comparison.
