A gaming-news report described a datamined graphics preset labeled “Trinity,” which it identified as the PS5 Pro. Sony announced the console in September, and Hello Games confirmed a PS5 Pro enhancement for No Man’s Sky on the console’s November 7, 2024 launch day. The released feature description confirms the upgrade, but does not verify every setting attributed to the earlier leak.
What did the No Man’s Sky PS5 Pro leak claim?
On July 22, 2024, Insider Gaming reported on a graphics-settings image attributed to a July 20 social-media post by developer and modder ThatBomberBoi. The report said the game’s files contained a preset for “Trinity,” which it identified as the PS5 Pro, and compared it with the standard PS5 preset.

According to Insider Gaming’s interpretation of the datamined settings, the preset raised the minimum dynamic-resolution factor from 0.6 to 0.8, moved the base resolution from 1300p to 1730p, and changed some graphics settings from High to Ultra. Those numbers describe the report’s reading of pre-release material. They are not confirmed retail-build measurements, and Hello Games did not publish them in its later feature announcement.
What was officially confirmed, and when?
- July 2024: Insider Gaming reported the datamine and its interpretation of “Trinity” as the PS5 Pro.
- September 10, 2024: Sony announced PS5 Pro, identifying November 7, 2024 as its launch date. Sony also said enhanced features apply to select games and can vary by title.
- November 7, 2024: Hello Games announced that No Man’s Sky had been enhanced for PS5 Pro, describing the game’s new modes and visual improvements.
The chronology matters: Sony and Hello Games’ later announcements confirmed the console and the game’s support, not the original leak’s exact resolution figures or settings.

What does No Man’s Sky do on PS5 Pro?
Hello Games described an enhanced version with PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling, a 4K mode targeting 60fps, and an 8K mode targeting 30fps. The developer also listed improved lighting, ultra-quality reflections, higher-quality ambient occlusion in all modes, and improvements to PSVR2 imagery. Hello Games said the enhancement was available as a free update.
These are the developer’s published feature claims, not results from an independent benchmark. Hello Games wrote that “PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) allows for incredible upscaling to provide crisp 4K resolution at 60fps.” Its announcement describes an 8K/30fps mode as well; it does not establish that every mode or scene will maintain those targets under independent testing.
How do the reported leak and the released feature description compare?
| What was described | What the source said | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| “Trinity” graphics preset | Insider Gaming’s July 2024 report of datamined material | The outlet identified the preset as PS5 Pro-related; Sony and Hello Games did not confirm the codename in their announcements. |
| 1300p to 1730p base resolution; 0.6 to 0.8 minimum dynamic-resolution factor | Insider Gaming’s interpretation of the reported preset | Provisional pre-release settings, not confirmed final-build or measured performance figures. |
| 4K at 60fps using PSSR; 8K at 30fps | Hello Games’ November 2024 feature announcement | The developer’s description of the PS5 Pro modes; not an independent test result. |
| Lighting, reflections, ambient occlusion, and PSVR2 imagery improvements | Hello Games’ November 2024 feature announcement | Features the developer said were included in the enhancement. |
What does Sony’s PS5 Pro announcement add?
Sony said PS5 Pro has 67% more GPU compute units and 28% faster memory than the then-current PS5, enabling up to 45% faster rendering. These are Sony’s 2024 manufacturer comparisons, not a promise that every game will run 45% faster. Sony said games taking advantage of PS5 Pro features would carry a “PS5 Pro Enhanced” designation, and noted that the features vary by game. Sony later listed No Man’s Sky among games receiving a free PS5 Pro Enhanced update.

Sony’s announcement also specified a 2TB SSD and one DualSense wireless controller. Its recommended launch prices were $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY including tax for the stated amounts. Those are launch-era 2024 prices, not current retail prices.
What should players expect in practice?
- If you want smoother 4K play: The developer described a PSSR-assisted 4K/60fps mode. That is the clearest fit for a 4K display and a preference for a higher frame-rate target.
- If you have an 8K display: Hello Games described an 8K/30fps mode. The announcement presents this as a separate mode, not as the same experience as 4K/60fps.
- If you play in PSVR2: Hello Games specifically said the update improves PSVR2 imagery.
- If you are comparing the leak with the update: Treat the leaked preset values as clues about development, not a specification sheet for the released game. The official announcement confirms the upgrade and its described modes, but not those exact values.
Neither the cited announcements nor the leak report provide independent comparative frame-rate tests or establish that the reported preset values exactly match the final build. A player should therefore use Hello Games’ published modes and features—not the datamine’s provisional settings—as the basis for expectations.
