No Man’s Sky update 5.03 was a small follow-up to Worlds Part 1, fixing five interface, control and gameplay issues. Hello Games announced it on July 29, 2024, saying it was live on Steam and would reach other platforms as soon as possible.
What did No Man’s Sky update 5.03 change?
The patch focused on corrections and quality-of-life improvements rather than adding a new system or major content. Hello Games described the work as resolving issues identified through player feedback. Its five listed changes were:
- Inventory models: Fixed an issue that made it difficult to rotate the starship or backpack model on the Inventory page.
- Companion register: Polished the interface to make clear that more than six companion slots are available. The notes do not give the total number of slots.
- Reporting bases: Fixed the incorrect control glyph shown when reporting a base.
- Pirate dreadnoughts: Improved the position where a pirate dreadnought freighter is summoned, making it easier to fly into.
- Appearance customization: Fixed inapplicable markings options appearing in some player appearance settings.
The announcement did not publish performance measurements or quantify how many players were affected by these issues.
When did update 5.03 arrive, and on which platforms?
Hello Games announced the update on July 29, 2024, and said it was live on Steam, with other platforms to follow “as soon as possible.” The official release log lists these platforms for version 5.03:

The announcement and release log do not provide exact arrival times for each platform, so they do not establish a platform-by-platform schedule. The Xbox Game Pass listing identifies availability through that service; it is not a separate console model.

Hello Games wrote: “We are listening closely to your feedback, and have identified and resolved a number of issues.” The studio also thanked players for sending reports through Zendesk or console crash reporting.
