No One Lives Forever 2 retail patch v1.1 was an early update for the Windows retail game. Contemporary reports published on October 4, 2002 say it addressed sound or audio problems affecting some players. It was not the game’s original installer, and later updates followed. No current official download source has been verified, so the patch’s historical purpose is clearer than the authenticity or safety of files circulating today.
What the v1.1 retail patch did
Neowin reported on October 4, 2002 that Monolith Productions had released the first retail patch for No One Lives Forever 2, bringing the game to version 1.1 and addressing an audio issue for some users with unusual configurations. Read Neowin’s report.
A separate Gameswelt report, also published October 4, 2002, said the update brought the US retail version to v1.1, described the download as 3.2 MB, and cited sporadic sound problems as its target. That size is the contemporary report’s figure, not a measurement of a verified file available today. Read Gameswelt’s report.
These are contemporary news accounts rather than the patch’s original readme. They establish the reported purpose and release context, but not a complete list of changes or a guarantee that v1.1 resolves every sound problem.

Is v1.1 the latest patch?
No. A community preservation page lists versions 1.2 and 1.3 after v1.1 and describes v1.3 as a later update that included multiplayer features and other changes. This is secondary timeline information; it does not establish which update is appropriate for every installation. See the community version history.
Before choosing an update, identify the game version already installed and confirm that the patch matches your retail release, language or region, and the problem you are trying to fix. The available reporting identifies v1.1 with the US retail version, but does not provide a complete language or region matrix.

Can you safely download the patch now?
A current official v1.1 download, original readme, and official file hash have not been established. A file hosted by a modern mirror should therefore not be treated as official simply because its name or size matches an old report. The reported 3.2 MB size alone cannot authenticate a download.
- Prefer a source that can establish the file’s provenance, rather than relying on a matching filename.
- Check that the page identifies the intended retail release and patch version.
- If provenance cannot be established, do not run the installer; the historical reports do not verify present-day files or their safety.
What the manual says about the retail game
The game manual documents a Windows PC game installed from CD-ROM; its instructions begin, “To begin, insert Disc 1 into your CD-ROM drive.” View the manual’s installation instructions.
