No Rest for the Wicked is still in Steam Early Access, so current reviews describe an unfinished, changing game—not its eventual 1.0 release. Whether to buy now depends on how much you want to play during development and how comfortable you are with the uncertainties of an early build. If you want the finished game, waiting is the safer choice: Moon Studios now targets March 2027 for 1.0, with an open beta planned for December 2026. Both dates are plans, not guarantees.

What do reviews say about No Rest for the Wicked?

Steam’s user-review scores show a sharply different picture depending on the time window. On October 8, 2026, Steam listed 86% positive from 27,640 English-language reviews overall, compared with 52% positive from 663 reviews in the last 30 days. These are changing user-review aggregates, not professional critic scores; the recent figure reflects a relatively small window and should not be treated as a permanent verdict.

Those numbers are best read alongside the game’s status: Steam labels it Early Access and warns that it is incomplete and may change. Current reviews therefore assess a work in progress. They cannot tell you exactly what the finished campaign, balance, performance, or final feature set will be.

Is No Rest for the Wicked still in Early Access?

Yes. Steam lists its Early Access release date as April 18, 2024. The game is a hand-crafted action RPG with deliberate, Souls-like combat and online co-op for up to four players, according to its Steam listing. Steam’s disclosure is direct: “Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further.”

That status matters more than any single score if you are deciding whether to buy. You are purchasing access to the current version, not a promise that every planned feature is already present or that the game will not change.

When is the full release coming?

Moon Studios’ latest stated target is March 2027 for version 1.0. On September 1, 2026, the studio moved the planned launch from October 2026 and announced an open beta for December 2026. These are the studio’s current plans, not guaranteed dates. Its delay announcement says the extra time is intended to improve performance, refine the class system, and polish the game.

In June 2026, Moon Studios outlined a 1.0 scope of around 100 hours of content, including 60-plus hours of new content and more than 15 handcrafted regions, alongside a new horde mode, weapons, bosses and enemies, revised classes, an ending to the story arc, multiplayer, and crossplay and cross-save. Those were developer-announced plans before the September delay; they should not be read as confirmation that every item has shipped or that the scope is unchanged. The original announcement is available from Moon Studios.

Should you buy the Early Access version or wait?

Your priority Better fit Why
You want to follow development and are willing to play an incomplete, evolving game. Consider buying Early Access You can play the current build rather than waiting for the planned 1.0 release.
You want a finished campaign and a clearer picture of final systems and performance. Wait for 1.0 The full release is currently targeted for March 2027, but the date may change.
You are interested but unsure whether the current state suits you. Wait for the planned December 2026 open beta, then reassess The beta may provide a later opportunity to judge the game, though its date and details remain plans.

The developer has specifically identified performance improvement as part of the reason for the delay. That is a statement of ongoing work, not proof that the current build performs poorly on every system—or that it will meet any particular performance target. There is no basis here for a build-specific benchmark or a universal performance verdict.

What is established about the purchase?

The reviewed official sources establish a digital Early Access purchase on Steam. Steam also lists a digital Early Access soundtrack DLC; that does not establish a physical game or soundtrack edition. The available evidence does not establish a required accessory or hardware recommendation.

Moon Studios announced GeForce NOW availability when Early Access launched in 2024, but that launch announcement does not establish its current cloud-service availability. See the April 18, 2024 announcement for the original statement.
