Checked October 8, 2026: No Rest for the Wicked is still in Early Access; Moon Studios now lists its 1.0 launch for March 2027, moved from October 2026. This guide helps you choose what to do next without presenting an unverified quest-by-quest route as fact. In the current build, use your in-game journal as the authority for the next campaign objective, and treat any suggested region order as provisional because patches can change gates and quest behavior.

How to use this walkthrough

There is no fully verified, official quest-by-quest route for the live Early Access build. The safest way to progress is to follow the active objective in your journal, then use the relevant region or hub activity to complete it. If the game’s objective, gate, or quest state differs from a general route, follow what your current build shows.

  1. Open the journal and identify the active objective. Use its current wording and destination to decide where to go next; do not rely on an older guide’s quest order or level recommendation.
  2. Complete the objective in the named area. Explore enough to reach the marked goal and respond to any new objective the game adds. If you hit a locked gate or cannot advance a quest, check the journal again for a prerequisite rather than assuming the route is broken.
  3. Return to Sacrament when the objective points there. Hub projects and conversations may be part of progression, but there is no basis for treating every return trip as mandatory.
  4. Keep optional activities separate from the main route. Try them when you want additional exploration or repeatable play; do not let them displace an active campaign objective unless the game itself makes them a requirement.

Moon Studios’ April 10, 2026 Together Hotfix 8 notes document changes and fixes involving performance, rune swapping, combat tuning, quests, bosses, and areas. That is a reason to be cautious with patch-sensitive tips from older builds—not proof that any particular current objective has changed.

What route should you follow?

A broad, unofficial route outline places Sacrament first, then Lowland Meadows and Rookery, followed by Marin Woods and Nameless Pass, with the Crucible and Breach treated as later or endgame-oriented activities. Use that only as a rough orientation, not as a guaranteed sequence or a substitute for the journal. The outline has not been established as a complete route for the current build, and its timing for 1.0 is outdated.

Approach Best when Trade-off
Main-objective first You want to keep campaign progress moving and minimize detours. You may leave optional exploration for later.
Explore as you go You enjoy searching the current area before advancing. It can add detours or backtracking; the amount depends on your route and the active objectives.
Repeatable activities alongside the campaign You want to try a separate, replayable challenge. It is not automatically part of the required campaign route; check whether your current objective or gate asks for it.

When should you return to Sacrament?

Return when an active quest or hub project asks you to speak with someone, turn in progress, or interact with a Sacrament service. Otherwise, the available evidence does not support a fixed schedule for returning to town. Let the journal and the game’s current gates determine whether a trip is needed, rather than making repeated hub visits simply because a route outline lists Sacrament first.

Is the Cerim Crucible part of the main walkthrough?

Not by default. Moon Studios describes the Cerim Crucible as a repeatable roguelite dungeon with randomized chambers and Echoes that modify a run. Its July 2024 announcement says access becomes available after reaching Sacrament, completing the first campaign quest, and activating “Spoken & Unspoken” with Elsa. Treat that as the unlock rule stated in that announcement, not a guarantee that no later patch has changed the gate. Check your current journal and in-game access prompt before diverting from the campaign.

What is—and is not—in the current Early Access route?

Moon Studios’ June 2026 announcement described planned 1.0 additions, including more regions, a final story arc, endgame activities, and a redesigned class system. Those are future plans, not instructions for content available in the Early Access walkthrough. The studio’s September 2026 notice moved 1.0 to March 2027 and announced an open beta in December. Do not use announced full-release features to infer present quest steps, area availability, or character-progression advice.

For the same reason, this guide does not assign recommended levels, list allegedly missable side quests, or promise a boss order: those details have not been verified against authoritative current-build information. If a quest or boss behaves differently than an old tip suggests, check the current objective and the latest patch notes.
