Microsoft said in October 2025 that both retailers remained committed Xbox partners, and Target said it continued selling Xbox consoles, games, and accessories in stores and online. Those statements do not guarantee that any specific item is available at a particular store or on a retailer’s website right now.
What Microsoft and Target said
On October 13, 2025, Windows Central reported Microsoft’s statement that “Target and Walmart, among other retailers, remain committed partners for Xbox consoles, accessories, and games.” The statement describes the retailers’ broader relationship with Xbox, not their inventory at every location.

In a contemporaneous report, CNET quoted Target as saying: “We continue to sell Xbox consoles, games and accessories, both in-stores and on Target.com.” Target also said some items were not appearing on Target.com because they were sold out, and would appear again when available. These were statements reported at the time, not a live check of today’s listings or stock.
Windows Central’s report on Microsoft’s statement and the rumor and CNET’s report, hosted by Yahoo Tech, quoting Target provide the contemporaneous accounts.

Why missing Xbox products do not prove a chain-wide removal
The October 2025 rumor began with a social post about one local Target, followed by other people describing what they did or did not see at their own stores. Such reports can document a real gap on a particular shelf or listing, but they do not establish a corporate decision across an entire retail chain. Windows Central also reported counterexamples from people who had found Xbox hardware and games in stores.
Retail availability can vary by product, location, and time. A sold-out listing or an empty display is evidence about that item and place at that moment—not proof that Target or Walmart has ended sales of Xbox products generally.

What the newer official information confirms—and what it does not
Microsoft’s Store price-protection policy, accessed October 7, 2026, lists Target and Walmart among eligible retailers for qualifying Xbox purchases. For a purchase to qualify under that policy, the item must be fulfilled directly by the eligible retailer rather than by a third-party marketplace seller. This is evidence of retailer eligibility for price adjustments; it is not an inventory promise or confirmation that a particular product is listed. See Microsoft’s price-protection policy.
Xbox Wire’s June 25, 2026 console-price update discusses Xbox Series S and Series X models and says the updated pricing takes effect August 1, 2026. That confirms Microsoft was still communicating about those console products in 2026, but it does not establish whether either retailer has them in stock. See Xbox Wire’s console-price update.

How to check a specific Xbox item
- Search the exact console, game, or accessory on Target.com or Walmart.com; a general search for “Xbox” may not tell you whether the item you want is available.
- Check the item’s listing for online availability, pickup options, and the selected store. Availability may differ between shipping and individual locations.
- If a listing is missing or marked sold out, check again later or contact the retailer about that specific item. A temporary gap does not establish a chain-wide change.
Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
