now.gg announced nowStore on August 23, 2024, at Gamescom in Cologne as a Telegram-based storefront for mobile games and AI apps. The proposed service would let users discover and launch supported titles through Telegram, with in-app purchases described as being paid in TON, The Open Network’s cryptocurrency.
That announcement is real, but its original claims should be treated as historical. Current now.gg documentation still describes multi-store publishing and Telegram-related custom apps, while its traffic documentation labels Telegram support “Coming Soon.” Public documentation therefore does not fully establish whether the original @nowstore_bot, catalog or TON payment flow remains broadly available in 2026.
What nowStore was supposed to be
nowStore was presented as now.gg’s branded store experience inside Telegram—not as a replacement for Telegram’s entire app ecosystem. Its proposed catalog included mobile games and AI apps published through now.gg’s developer platform.
The idea was to add Telegram to the distribution channels available through now.gg, alongside PC, Mac, browser/cloud access and other storefronts. Instead of requiring every user to find and install a conventional mobile build through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, a supported title could be launched from a Telegram entry point and delivered through now.gg’s infrastructure.

The launch release promoted Telegram’s audience as exceeding 950 million users and said 20% of Telegram users played games. Both figures were company claims, not independently audited measurements in the cited material. A large total audience does not automatically translate into game sessions, paying customers or revenue.
now.gg’s launch announcement named the bot @nowstore_bot and described the service as an additional distribution channel for developers.
How the user experience was described
- Open Telegram and find or launch @nowstore_bot.
- Browse the available games or apps.
- Choose a title and start it from Telegram.
- Use the game or app without necessarily installing its original mobile package, where the experience was delivered through now.gg’s cloud technology.
- Make supported in-app purchases using TON.
The release used promotional terms such as “instant” and “seamless.” Those descriptions should not be read as a guarantee of native-app performance. Cloud play depends on network quality, latency, bandwidth, regional infrastructure, device compatibility and the way each title was implemented.
The available announcement does not explain whether every title was a Telegram Web App/Mini App, a cloud-streamed now.gg session opened from a bot, a native Android build linked through Telegram, or a hybrid approach. It is therefore more accurate to call nowStore a Telegram-oriented store and launch route than a conventional downloadable app marketplace.

Games and apps announced at launch
The 2024 announcement said nowStore debuted with these titles:
- Nexus Nebula: Echoes from Magic Games
- Tales & Dragons: New Journey from Lunplay
- Battle Bears titles from SkyVu
- Zombieland: Doomsday Survival from Juefeng
- Magic Hero War from Juefeng
These are launch-announcement titles, not a confirmed 2026 catalog. The release also included AI apps in nowStore’s scope but did not provide a detailed catalog or explain whether their delivery, moderation and privacy requirements matched those of the games.
What nowSDK and nowStudio contributed
The developer proposition depended on now.gg’s existing tools:
- nowSDK: an integration layer covering user accounts, payments, rewarded advertising, events and utility functions. Current documentation lists support for Unity and native Android: nowSDK platforms and SDK modules.
- nowStudio: the dashboard for adding apps, testing them in the cloud, submitting releases, managing distribution, monetization and analytics. Current documentation covers Android and HTML5 apps and multiple store channels: nowStudio overview.
- now.gg/nowCloud: the cloud-delivery layer intended to reduce the need for a full local installation in supported experiences.
A current developer workflow generally involves creating an approved developer account, integrating the relevant SDK, adding an Android or HTML5 app in nowStudio, testing it, configuring distribution and submitting a release for review. Registration requires company information, a business email, a website and country or region; the documentation says common personal webmail addresses are not accepted. now.gg also documents its own payment modules and webshop options. That matters because TON should not be described as the only payment method across the entire current now.gg platform. Alternative-store payment flows can have their own restrictions; the documented flow supports consumable products but not subscriptions: alternative-store payments and nowStudio webshops.
Why TON mattered
TON, or The Open Network, was presented as the payment rail for nowStore in-app purchases. That gave the announcement a clear Web3 angle: Telegram distribution, mobile games and cryptocurrency payments in one product proposition.
For users, however, a crypto payment can introduce wallet setup, transaction confirmation, asset-price volatility and account-security issues. For publishers, it raises additional questions about custody, exchange rates, refunds, chargebacks, fraud, tax treatment, regional rules and customer support. The launch announcement did not provide a complete fee schedule, refund policy, wallet-onboarding flow or regional availability list.
The wording specifically concerned in-app purchases. It does not prove that users needed TON merely to browse or launch every title, nor that every current now.gg app uses TON. Users should verify the identity of any Telegram bot before connecting a wallet or approving a transaction.

Why Telegram was strategically attractive
now.gg’s thesis was that Telegram could provide a social distribution layer around games. A title could potentially be promoted through chats, channels, communities and bot interactions rather than relying only on conventional store search and ranking.
Telegram was also strategically relevant to crypto and Web3 communities. The announcement argued that Asian developers could use the platform to reach Western users and described nowSDK as providing what the company called the “third largest distribution” after Apple and Google. That is now.gg’s positioning, not an established neutral market ranking.
The more realistic funnel is:
- Telegram’s total user base
- Users reachable in a specific country and client
- Users who discover the bot or a shared game link
- Users with compatible devices and adequate connectivity
- Users who start and return to the title
- Users willing and able to complete a purchase
Each stage can reduce the effective audience. Developers still need discoverability, localization, retention, community management and reliable performance.

The safest current conclusion is that the 2024 nowStore announcement is documented, while the exact operating status of the original Telegram store is not fully established by the public documentation cited here.

There is a notable documentation mismatch. The nowStudio overview mentions custom apps for social platforms including Telegram. But the current traffic documentation labels Telegram custom apps “Coming Soon.” That means developers should not assume that Telegram publication is enabled for every account simply because the 2024 release described it as available.
Do not treat the original bot, launch catalog or TON payment operation as current without direct confirmation from now.gg. Availability may also vary by country, device, Telegram client, account and network. A Telegram bot’s existence would not by itself prove official endorsement by Telegram.
Practical limitations and failure modes
For users
- Cloud sessions can perform poorly on congested or high-latency connections and may use substantial data.
- “Instant play” does not mean offline access or guaranteed native performance.
- Games, AI apps and payment features may have different regional or device availability.
- AI apps may handle sensitive prompts, files, account permissions or payment data; inspect their privacy terms before use.
- TON transactions can create security, volatility, refund and recovery risks that do not work like ordinary card payments.
For developers
- Telegram is unavailable in the dashboard: current documentation shows it as “Coming Soon” in one traffic section. Contact now.gg developer support rather than assuming the feature is active.
- Registration fails: check that the application uses company information and an accepted business email rather than a personal webmail address.
- A test link is slow: now.gg says its test environment can become dormant after an hour and may take up to five minutes to warm up.
- Payments differ by store: do not assume that products supported in one channel work in another; the documented alternative-store flow excludes subscriptions.
- A release is under review: now.gg describes approval and review, with typical update review taking one to two business days. That timing is not a Telegram-specific guarantee.
Developers should also remember that replacing Apple or Google discovery with Telegram does not remove platform dependency. The stack may still depend on now.gg, Telegram and TON, each with its own technical, commercial and policy constraints.
Who should consider the model?
nowStore’s original proposition was most relevant to developers that already had a Telegram-native community, operate social or multiplayer games, want low-friction trials, or are comfortable serving Web3-oriented users. It could also appeal to teams seeking one now.gg workflow for multiple distribution channels.
Caution is warranted for teams that require guaranteed native-device coverage, transparent public pricing before committing, subscription-heavy billing, or complete independence from intermediary platforms. The current public documentation does not resolve the Telegram availability question, and now.gg does not publish a clear price or commission schedule in the cited material.
Bottom line
now.gg’s Telegram store was a genuine August 2024 announcement with a credible distribution thesis: put mobile games and AI apps inside a large social platform, use cloud delivery where supported, and enable TON-based in-app purchases. But the evidence supports a historical explanation more strongly than a current product recommendation. In 2026, the original launch is documented, while the store’s exact availability, catalog and TON payment operation remain unconfirmed by the current public now.gg documentation reviewed here.
