Nvidia GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.80 WHQL was released on June 17, 2025, for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. Its most unusual fix was listed as “GeForce RTX 5090 FE acoustic improvements for idle and low loads.” The driver also added Game Ready support for FBC: Firebreak, REMATCH, and the DOOM: The Dark Ages path-tracing update.
That wording describes an acoustic improvement—not a guaranteed permanent fan fix or silent operation. Because Nvidia has released many newer drivers since 576.80, it should be treated as a historical release unless a specific compatibility reason requires this version.

“GeForce RTX 5090 FE acoustic improvements for idle and low loads [5139629]”
This means Nvidia addressed undesirable noise behavior under desktop or light-workload conditions on the Founders Edition card. It does not establish that every RTX 5090 is affected, nor does it promise that every 5090 FE will remain completely silent at idle.
Nvidia does not provide a decibel measurement, target idle temperature, fan curve, or explanation of whether the change involves driver behavior, firmware interaction, temperature sensors, or power-state management. The note also does not specify how configurations involving multiple monitors, high refresh rates, HDR, DisplayPort, or browser video affect the result.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Noise that continues after the update may have another cause, including coil whine, case resonance, dust, bearing wear, a defective fan, or normal behavior under a display or video-decoding workload. The listed fix is specifically for the RTX 5090 Founders Edition and should not automatically be applied to every partner-board model.
How to check whether the change helps
- Record the currently installed driver version.
- Note the number of connected monitors, refresh rates, HDR status, and idle GPU power draw.
- Leave Windows at the desktop for several minutes, then record temperature, fan RPM, fan-stop behavior, and audible noise.
- Install 576.80, reboot, and repeat the same test conditions.
- Test separately with one monitor, multiple monitors, high refresh rate, HDR, browser video playback, and a light 3D workload.
Keep the conditions consistent. A browser video, high-refresh display, or multi-monitor setup can prevent the card from entering its lowest-power state, so “idle” and “low load” are not always equivalent.

REMATCH received Game Ready support for DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation.
DOOM: The Dark Ages
The driver supports the path-tracing update for DOOM: The Dark Ages, including DLSS Ray Reconstruction.
Game Ready support generally consists of driver profiles, compatibility work, and optimization for a game or update. It does not necessarily produce a measurable frame-rate increase on every GPU, resolution, setting, or game build. It also does not install the game update itself or add features the game does not support.

- Equipped with GeForce RTX 5090 chipset
- Integrated with 32GB of 512-bit GDDR7 memory interface
- WATERFORCE All-in-One Cooling System
- RGB Lighting
- Protective metal back plate
These overrides are not the same as official game patches. Their results can vary with the GPU generation, game version, renderer, selected DLSS mode, image-quality settings, and frame-generation configuration. Multi Frame Generation is primarily relevant to supported RTX 50-series hardware.
The Nvidia App may expose features that are not present in the driver alone. Users who prefer a minimal driver installation should review the installer choices rather than assuming the App is required.
Four new Optimal Settings profiles
Nvidia added one-click Optimal Settings profiles for:
- Dune: Awakening
- EA SPORTS F1 25
- FBC: Firebreak
- REMATCH
Nvidia said its Optimal Settings system supported more than 1,300 titles at the time. These profiles are driver or App configuration recommendations, not native patches to the games.

576.80 is a graphics driver, not a BIOS or VBIOS update. Nvidia’s published notes do not claim that it updates GPU firmware.
Should you install 576.80 now?
At release, the strongest reasons were an RTX 5090 FE with unwanted idle or low-load noise, a system launching FBC: Firebreak, the DOOM: The Dark Ages path-tracing update, or one of the listed game and application problems.
For readers deciding in August 2026, the answer is different: 576.80 is not the current recommended driver. Nvidia’s driver index lists later WHQL releases, including 576.88, 577.00, multiple 580-series releases, and 581.08. Start with the latest compatible driver unless you have a specific reason to reproduce or troubleshoot behavior associated with 576.80.

1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWHQL certification indicates Microsoft-oriented certification and testing; it does not mean a driver is bug-free. Later drivers may contain the same fix plus additional compatibility work, although any update can also change application profiles or introduce regressions.
What the 5090 FE change does not prove
- It does not prove that every RTX 5090 FE will be silent at idle.
- It does not provide a universal fan-stop guarantee.
- It does not apply automatically to every partner RTX 5090.
- It does not establish a target temperature, fan speed, or decibel level.
- It does not rule out coil whine, case resonance, fan damage, dust, or display-related power behavior.
- It does not make 576.80 the best driver for a current 2026 installation.
Nvidia’s complete release information is available in the official driver notes, while the release announcement covers the game support, DLSS overrides, and Optimal Settings profiles.
