NVIDIA announced the GeForce RTX 5050 on June 24, 2025, in two distinct forms: a desktop graphics card and a GPU for laptops. The desktop card was announced with a $249 starting price and a July 2025 launch window; RTX 5050 laptops were announced as starting at $999. Those are historical launch figures, not current retail prices or evidence that either product is in stock today.
What is the GeForce RTX 5050?
The RTX 5050 is NVIDIA’s entry-level GeForce RTX 50-series offering based on its Blackwell architecture. NVIDIA announced desktop add-in cards and laptop GPUs together, but they are not interchangeable versions of the same hardware: their memory types differ, and laptop power and performance depend on the laptop implementation.

NVIDIA said desktop cards would begin arriving in the second half of July 2025, with a $249 starting price. It said laptops with RTX 5050 GPUs would arrive at retailers from $999. These were announcement-era plans and prices; NVIDIA’s announcement does not establish present-day pricing, stock, or availability.

| Memory interface | 128-bit |
| Base clock | 2.31 GHz |
| Boost clock | 2.57 GHz |
| Interface | PCI Express Gen 5 |
| Total graphics power | 130 W |
NVIDIA notes that its listed clock speeds apply under medium-to-full GPU utilization and that add-in-card specifications may differ. See NVIDIA’s RTX 5050 specifications for the reference-design details.
Power supply and fit: what to check
NVIDIA lists a 550 W required system power recommendation for the desktop reference card, based on a system configured with a Ryzen 9 9950X. Treat that as NVIDIA’s specified configuration, not a universal requirement for every PC. The card’s listed maximum draw at stock speeds is 130 W.
NVIDIA specifies one PCIe 8-pin power cable, or a 300 W-or-greater PCIe Gen 5 cable used with an adapter. Before choosing a specific card, verify the power connector and the physical clearance in your case; partner models may differ from the reference design.

- Confirm that your power supply has the connector required by the exact card.
- Check the card’s length, height, and slot width against your case and nearby components.
- Compare cooling design, noise claims, and factory clock settings across specific SKUs rather than assuming all RTX 5050 cards are alike.
Desktop and laptop RTX 5050 are different GPUs
The laptop RTX 5050 is a separate implementation, not a desktop card installed in a notebook. NVIDIA announced 2,560 CUDA cores and 8 GB of GDDR7 memory running at 24 Gbps for the laptop GPU. The desktop reference card instead uses 8 GB of GDDR6. Do not infer desktop-card power, clock behavior, or performance from the shared RTX 5050 name.
Laptop specifications and performance depend on the laptop design. When comparing notebooks, use the full model’s specifications and reviews rather than treating the GPU name alone as a guarantee of performance.
NVIDIA’s RTX 3050 performance comparisons
NVIDIA said desktop RTX 5050 cards averaged 60% faster raster performance than the RTX 3050 in the games shown in its announcement, and claimed 4× performance with the full DLSS 4 suite. For laptops, it claimed an average 2.4× raster FPS and consistently more than 4× with DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation versus RTX 3050 Laptop GPUs across the games in its chart.

- AI Performance: 433 AI TOPS . 0dB technology lets you enjoy light gaming in relative silence
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4 OC mode: 2677MHz/ Default mode: 2647MHz (Boost Clock)
- SFF-Ready enthusiast GeForce card
- Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
These are NVIDIA’s vendor comparisons, not independent benchmark results. They describe the games and configurations shown by NVIDIA; they should not be read as a guarantee of the same uplift in every game or system. DLSS results also depend on supported games and the features being used.

Which RTX 5050 card models were announced?
NVIDIA named ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, Galaxy, GIGABYTE, INNO3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and ZOTAC as add-in-card providers, and said RTX 5050 would also appear in prebuilt desktops. GIGABYTE announced GAMING OC, WINDFORCE OC, and OC Low Profile 8G versions. Its low-profile example is 182 mm long and includes an additional low-profile bracket; that size and form factor do not apply to every RTX 5050 card. Exact board specifications depend on manufacturer and SKU. GIGABYTE’s RTX 5050 announcement describes those specific models.
How to compare RTX 5050 options
Because partner specifications vary, compare the exact card or prebuilt system rather than relying on the RTX 5050 label alone. Prioritize the factors that affect whether it fits your build and suits your use:
Quick Recap
- Price: Check the current price for the exact SKU; the $249 desktop and $999 laptop figures were launch-era starting prices announced in 2025.
- Physical fit: Compare the listed length, height, and slot width with your case. Low-profile models are a specific option, not the standard dimensions for the product family.
- Power: Verify the card’s connector and the system recommendation for that manufacturer’s model.
- Cooling and acoustics: Compare the actual cooler design and any manufacturer noise claims.
- Factory clocks: Check the model’s published clock specifications against NVIDIA’s reference values.
