Yes. NVIDIA announced its GeForce RTX 50 Series at CES on January 6, 2025. Its announced schedule put the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 desktop cards on sale January 30, followed by the RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 in February. Laptop models had a separate schedule, beginning in March.
What NVIDIA announced
NVIDIA introduced four desktop GPUs in its January 6, 2025 launch announcement: the GeForce RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, and RTX 5070. The company described the lineup as built on its Blackwell architecture, with fifth-generation Tensor Cores and fourth-generation RT Cores. It also promoted DLSS 4 and AI-assisted rendering. Those are NVIDIA’s descriptions and claims, not independent performance findings.
The announcement confirmed a 2025 launch plan; it did not establish current stock, current prices, or availability in every country. NVIDIA’s CES 2025 event page and its January 6 launch release document the announcement.
RTX 50 Series desktop launch schedule
| Desktop model | NVIDIA’s announced timing | Announced starting price (January 2025) | NVIDIA-stated AI TOPS |
|---|---|---|---|
| GeForce RTX 5090 | January 30, 2025; NVIDIA said it was out that day | $1,999 | 3,352 |
| GeForce RTX 5080 | January 30, 2025; NVIDIA said it was out that day | $999 | 1,801 |
| GeForce RTX 5070 Ti | February 2025 | $749 | 1,406 |
| GeForce RTX 5070 | February 2025 | $549 | 988 |
Prices and AI TOPS in this table are figures NVIDIA gave in its 2025 announcement. The prices are original announced starting prices, not current offers; AI TOPS are NVIDIA specifications, not independently measured gaming benchmarks. On January 30, NVIDIA followed up by saying the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 were out. That confirms the announced launch date, but does not guarantee stock in every market. NVIDIA’s launch-day update names the cards and channels.
#1 Best Overall
- AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
- OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
Laptop models followed a different schedule
NVIDIA announced RTX 50 Series laptop GPU availability separately from the desktop launch:
- RTX 5090, RTX 5080, and RTX 5070 Ti laptop GPUs: beginning in March 2025.
- RTX 5070 Laptop GPU: beginning in April 2025.
These were announced availability windows, not a promise of simultaneous release or stock in every region. The RTX 5070 Laptop GPU is a laptop product; the desktop RTX 5070’s February timing should not be confused with its April laptop counterpart.

What the announcement does—and does not—confirm
The record supports a clear historical answer: NVIDIA announced the RTX 50 Series in 2025, scheduled its first desktop cards for January 30, and said those cards were out on that date. The rest of the desktop lineup and laptop GPUs had later announced windows.
It does not answer which card is best for a particular game or budget. The launch figures are NVIDIA’s specifications and claims, not independent comparative testing. Nor do the original starting prices establish what a buyer will pay now. NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Series product-family page is live, but displayed product information and availability can change; check current seller listings and regional availability before buying.
