NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 WHQL was released on March 10, 2026. It targeted the launches of Crimson Desert and DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH, which NVIDIA identified as DLSS 4-supported games, and included fixes for several game crashes, display problems and system issues.
However, 595.79 is now an archival release. As of August 18, 2026, NVIDIA’s driver history listed newer packages, including version 610.88 dated July 28. Most users should install the latest compatible Game Ready or OEM notebook driver, not manually seek out 595.79.

What NVIDIA GeForce 595.79 was
GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.79 was an R595-branch WHQL driver for supported Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems. NVIDIA also released a Studio Driver carrying the same version number on March 10, but the two packages serve different priorities: Game Ready drivers focus on current game launches, while Studio drivers emphasize creator applications and validation.

DLSS 4 and launch-game support
NVIDIA’s headline for 595.79 was Game Ready support for:
- Crimson Desert
- DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH
NVIDIA described both as new games supporting DLSS 4 technology. In practical terms, that means the driver included compatibility and game-specific optimization work for those releases. It does not mean that installing 595.79 adds every DLSS 4 feature to every game or every GeForce GPU.
DLSS availability has several separate requirements:
Rank #2
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
- Powered by GeForce RTX 5060
- Integrated with 8GB GDDR7 128bit memory interface
- PCIe 5.0
- WINDFORCE cooling system
- Game integration: The game must include the relevant DLSS implementation, usually through its launch build or a later patch.
- Driver support: The driver must recognize and properly support the game and its rendering features.
- GPU eligibility: Different DLSS components have different hardware-generation requirements.
- In-game settings: Super Resolution, Ray Reconstruction, Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation may appear as separate options with separate prerequisites.
Therefore, 595.79 brought Game Ready support for two DLSS 4-enabled releases; it was not a blanket activation of DLSS 4 across all RTX cards. NVIDIA’s release notes also do not establish a universal FPS improvement, so performance gains should not be assumed without testing.
Gaming fixes in 595.79
NVIDIA listed these targeted gaming fixes:
| Game | Issue addressed | Bug |
|---|---|---|
| Crimson Desert | The game could crash when launched on R595 drivers. | [5861012] |
| Resident Evil Requiem | White glowing lights or dots could appear when Subsurface Scattering was enabled. | [5915673] |
| Star Citizen | The game client could crash when launched. | [5935027] |
These are narrowly described fixes, not a promise that every crash or graphical artifact in any of these games disappears. For example, the Resident Evil Requiem entry concerns the specific Subsurface Scattering artifact, not all visual problems in the game.
General and system fixes
The release also addressed two issues outside a single game:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Overclocked graphics cards: GPU voltage could become capped, preventing the card from reaching expected boost behavior. Bug [5934973].
- Browser playback: Intermittent application crashes or driver timeouts could occur while playing multi-key DRM content in a browser on HDCP 1.x monitors. Bug [5934450].
These fixes may matter more to users with tuned GPUs, older protected-content display chains or browser-based video playback than to someone installing the driver only for a new game.
Rank #3
- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Display and RTX HDR notes
NVIDIA’s filtered driver-history pages expose additional display and RTX HDR entries associated with this release family. Depending on the selected operating system, GPU and notebook filters, the pages may show issues involving:
- Brightness adjustment on various displays
- Digital Vibrance settings failing to apply correctly
- Slight banding in SDR gradients
- The NVIDIA Control Panel notification-tray icon setting failing to deselect
- Faded colors after switching to a non-native resolution
- Black screens involving RTX HDR on selected televisions
- RTX HDR black screens in Vulkan games on LG OLED televisions
These entries should not automatically be read as newly fixed by 595.79. NVIDIA’s history pages can present different subsets of release information under different filters. Check the exact driver page for your GPU and operating system before treating an item as a confirmed fix or known issue for your configuration.
Should you install 595.79?
| Your situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| You are installing a driver now for ordinary gaming. | Use the latest compatible NVIDIA Game Ready driver instead. |
| You are playing Crimson Desert or DEATH STRANDING 2 and troubleshooting launch-day behavior. | Use the current driver first; consider 595.79 only for controlled historical testing. |
| You have one of the specifically listed crashes or visual bugs. | Update to a current driver that includes the relevant fix, rather than stopping at 595.79. |
| You need to reproduce an R595 software environment. | 595.79 may be appropriate for a fixed test configuration. |
| Your current driver is newer and stable. | Do not downgrade solely because 595.79 mentioned DLSS 4. |
| You use a notebook. | Check the notebook manufacturer’s certified driver before installing NVIDIA’s generic package. |
| Your main workload is creative software. | Compare the current Studio Driver; do not confuse it with Game Ready 595.79. |
NVIDIA specifically advises notebook users to consider the driver supplied by the laptop manufacturer, which may include platform-specific validation or customizations. See NVIDIA’s 595.79 Studio Driver page for the related package and notebook guidance.
How to update safely
- Open NVIDIA’s official driver download page or the NVIDIA App.
- Select the exact GPU model and Windows version.
- Choose the current Game Ready Driver unless your workload is primarily creator software.
- Close games, GPU-accelerated browsers, recording tools and monitoring utilities.
- Install the driver and restart Windows if prompted.
- Retest the game using the same resolution, graphics settings, DLSS mode, HDR state and overclock profile.
For a useful before-and-after comparison, change one variable at a time. A temporary performance drop after updating can result from shader compilation, changed profile settings, a game patch, an unstable undervolt or interaction with overlays, HDR or multiple displays.

If the new driver causes trouble
- Restart the computer once before treating the installation as failed.
- Determine whether the problem affects one game or the whole system.
- Remove GPU overclocks and undervolts and test at stock settings.
- Reset the affected game’s shader cache or allow shaders to rebuild.
- Disable NVIDIA, Discord, Steam and third-party monitoring overlays.
- Roll back to the previous known-good driver through Windows or reinstall it from NVIDIA.
- Use a clean installation only if a normal reinstall does not resolve the problem.
Do not use third-party driver mirrors as the default download source. For laptops, test the OEM package if the generic NVIDIA driver creates power-management, display or sleep problems.
Why DLSS 4 may still be missing
If you installed a compatible driver but cannot see a DLSS 4 option, check the following:
- The game may require a separate patch.
- Your GPU may not support the particular DLSS feature you are seeking.
- Frame Generation or ray tracing may need to be enabled before another option appears.
- The game may be running an older executable or incompatible graphics API mode.
- The game may support DLSS Super Resolution without supporting every newer DLSS feature.
- The NVIDIA App or game profile may not yet recognize the installation correctly.
A driver update alone cannot add game-side support to a title that has not implemented the relevant feature.

Bottom line on 595.79
GeForce 595.79 was a legitimate March 10, 2026 Game Ready release focused on two DLSS 4-supported launches and several targeted fixes. It is useful for launch-day history, regression testing and R595-specific troubleshooting, but it is not the normal driver choice today. As of August 18, 2026, NVIDIA listed newer releases, including 610.88; use the latest compatible NVIDIA or OEM driver unless you have a specific reason to reproduce or retain 595.79.
