Quick verdict
Driver 577.00 was worthwhile for players launching WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers, testing the Unreal Engine 5 version of Valorant, or experiencing one of its listed game fixes. It was not a universal performance upgrade, and it did not add every DLSS 4 feature to every GeForce card.
NVIDIA’s official release page lists support for Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11, a package size of approximately 869.34 MB, and an optional NVIDIA App installation. For a normal gaming system in 2026, use a newer compatible Game Ready or Security Update driver instead.

What Driver 577.00 changed
Game Ready support
- WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers: 577.00 was released to provide Game Ready support for the action RPG.
- Valorant: the driver supported the game’s Unreal Engine 5 update.
- DLSS 4 games: NVIDIA described the release as providing the best experience for new games supporting DLSS 4, but that wording does not mean every GeForce GPU gains every DLSS 4 feature.
Listed gaming fixes
- Counter-Strike 2: fixed a black-screen problem at 4:3 aspect-ratio resolutions on the ASUS ROG PG27AQN monitor.
- NARAKA: BLADEPOINT: fixed stability problems on a specific map when using DirectX 11 and DLSS Super Resolution.
NVIDIA did not publish a universal FPS increase for 577.00. Any performance change depends on the game, GPU, resolution, settings and the driver that was installed previously.
What “DLSS 4” means
DLSS 4 is a collection of technologies rather than one switch that becomes available on every GeForce card:
- DLSS Super Resolution reconstructs a higher-resolution image from a lower internal render resolution.
- DLSS Frame Generation creates an additional frame between traditionally rendered frames. Support depends on the GPU generation and the game.
- DLSS Multi Frame Generation generates multiple frames for each traditionally rendered frame and is primarily associated with GeForce RTX 50-series hardware.
- Transformer-model updates and overrides can improve image reconstruction or expose newer models in eligible games, but the driver alone does not turn every title into a native DLSS 4 game.
For a feature to work, the game must support it or be eligible for a supported NVIDIA App override. NVIDIA documents the requirements and process in its DLSS override support article. A higher displayed frame rate from generated frames should also be judged separately from base FPS, input latency and possible image artifacts.

In practical terms, an RTX 50-series owner seeking Multi Frame Generation needs both compatible hardware and a supported game. RTX 20-, 30- and 40-series owners may support other DLSS features, but should not assume they receive the full RTX 50-series feature set. GTX owners may be supported by the driver for conventional rendering while remaining ineligible for DLSS features that require RTX hardware.
Supported GPUs and operating systems
The desktop 577.00 package covered a broad range of GeForce hardware, including:
- GeForce RTX 50 series, including RTX 5090 D, RTX 5090, RTX 5080, RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5060 and RTX 5050
- GeForce RTX 40, 30 and 20 series
- GeForce GTX 16 series
- GeForce GTX 10 and 900 series
- Selected GeForce 700-series cards and NVIDIA TITAN models
The notebook package listed RTX 50-series laptop GPUs, RTX 20–40 laptop GPUs, MX-series mobile GPUs and selected GTX models. Because the exact supported-product list varies by package, verify your model on NVIDIA’s desktop driver page or notebook driver page rather than assuming that every NVIDIA GPU is compatible.

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Supported hardware does not mean identical DLSS capability. A supported GTX card, for example, does not gain RTX-only DLSS features simply because it can install the driver.

Generic NVIDIA drivers can work well on laptops, but the manufacturer’s package may include important integration for Optimus or Advanced Optimus, display routing, power profiles, firmware and vendor-specific controls. Check your laptop maker’s support page first and preserve the OEM driver installer before experimenting with a generic package.
Game Ready versus Studio Driver 577.00
Game Ready drivers prioritize new game support and launch compatibility. Studio drivers emphasize validation for creator applications. NVIDIA also published a separate Studio Driver 577.00 with different release notes, supported applications and known issues.

Use 577.00 only when you have a specific reason, such as reproducing a listed fix, testing a documented historical baseline, or rolling back from a confirmed regression. Otherwise, download the newer compatible release shown by NVIDIA.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute- Identify the exact GPU model and whether Windows is Windows 10 64-bit or Windows 11.
- Download the correct package from NVIDIA’s official driver page, or use the NVIDIA App.
- Close games, browsers using GPU acceleration, overlays and GPU-intensive applications.
- Run the installer and approve administrator access if Windows requests it.
- Choose Custom installation when you want control over installed components.
- Select Perform a clean installation when troubleshooting corruption, changing GPU generations or moving away from a problematic driver.
- Restart Windows when prompted.
A clean installation replaces core driver files and resets driver profiles, but it does not necessarily remove game files, shader caches, Windows updates, overlays or third-party utilities that may be causing problems.
Confirm the installed version
- In NVIDIA App, open the driver information.
- In NVIDIA Control Panel, select Help → System Information.
- In Windows, open Device Manager → Display adapters → your GPU → Driver.
If installation fails or games become unstable
- Restart Windows and retry the installer.
- Confirm that the package matches both your GPU and operating system.
- Temporarily close overclocking, monitoring and overlay tools such as Discord, Steam, Xbox Game Bar and hardware-monitoring utilities.
- If Windows reaches the desktop but games crash or stutter, reinstall through Custom → Perform a clean installation.
- If the problem began immediately after the update, use Device Manager’s rollback option where available, or install a known-good official driver.
- For severe display problems, start Windows in Safe Mode and use a reputable driver-removal workflow only when necessary. Download the replacement driver from NVIDIA or the laptop manufacturer.
- Restore undervolts, overclocks, G-SYNC, HDR and frame-generation settings gradually instead of changing everything at once.
A driver update can also trigger shader-cache rebuilding, causing temporary stutter. That alone does not prove the driver is defective. If possible, test with overlays disabled and default GPU settings before drawing a conclusion.
Should you install 577.00 now?
| Situation | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| You were playing WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers around its July 2025 launch | 577.00 was a sensible launch-day Game Ready choice. |
| You run a current Windows 10 or Windows 11 gaming system in 2026 | Prefer a later compatible driver. |
| You have a laptop with vendor-specific graphics behavior | Check the laptop manufacturer first. |
| You are troubleshooting one of the issues fixed by 577.00 | Try 577.00 only if a later driver does not already contain the fix. |
| You want DLSS Multi Frame Generation | Confirm RTX 50-series hardware, a compatible driver and game support. |
| You want current security protection | Use the current applicable NVIDIA release and review NVIDIA’s product-security guidance. |
WHQL certification means the package passed Microsoft’s certification process; it does not guarantee that the driver is newer than every alternative, free of regressions or ideal for every system. NVIDIA’s driver history confirms that 577.00 has been superseded by later releases.
